WVBR'S BOUND FOR GLORY, 40th YEAR, WINTER 2007

Phil Shapiro, host of WVBR's Bound for Glory since its inception in
1967, announces the Winter schedule, continuing the 40th year of this
Central New York musical tradition.

WVBR's Bound for Glory, North America's longest running live folk
concert broadcast, broadcasts live from Cul de Snack, the Cafe at Anabel
Taylor Hall at Cornell on Sunday nights. Bound for Glory brings central
New York another series of free folk concerts, on WVBR-FM, 93.5 and
105.5. We promise some excellent acoustic music, presented by long-time
host Phil Shapiro.

The show runs Sunday nights from 8 to 11, with live sets at 8:30, 9:30,
and 10:30. All three sets are different. Come to as many sets as you
wish. Admission in the live audience at Anabel Taylor is free and is
open to everyone in the area. Kids are always welcome. Refreshments are
available. For further information, call Phil Shapiro at 607-844-4535,
or e-mail pd...@cornell.edu.

help, through the Friends of Bound for Glory, by looking up

line. The website tells you how.

JAN. 21 BILL STAINES. Can't think of a better way to start Bound for
Glory's 40th Winter season. Bill Staines is one of America's finest,
and best known, folk singer-songwriters, an inspiring, magical performer
whose songs have been sung by untold numbers of people, many of whom
have no idea who wrote them. Come sing on the choruses.

JAN. 28 DAN FRECHETTE. Here's a Bound for Glory debut from a rising
young songwriter from Manitoba. He sings the stories of Canada, with
strength and not a little grit. His recent CD just sparkles with life.
Let's welcome him to Bound for Glory.

FEB. 4 PAT WICTOR. Second time around for Pat Wictor, perhaps the
only contemporary songwriter going who's instrument is slide guitar. Pat
is a charming guy whose first Bound for Glory show got quite a lot of
attention. His performances are quiet and strong, and very welcoming.
Let's return the compliment.

FEB. 11 SMALL POTATOES. Small Potatoes is a past winner of the Best
of Bound for Glory award. A lot of folks remember them as the
performers on the 1000th live Bound for Glory show. Highly eclectic
songs and tunes, homemade and otherwise. They're incredibly talented,
with a lovely, slightly twisted sense of humor. From Illinois.

FEB. 18 ERIC BIBB. Eric Bibb lives on the other side of the pond,
but he's an American blues singer and songwriter, with a traditional
touch, and occasionally an R&B touch, too. He's the son of Leon Bibb, a
major factor in American folk music in the 1960's. Should be a powerful
show.

FEB. 25 PAMELA GODDARD AND KITCHEN CHAIR. These fine folks live
right around Ithaca. Pamela Goddard is a traditional singer, of ballads
old and not so old, American and British. Kitchen Chair is Jennifer
Dotson and Gail Blake, slinky fiddle and guitar, tunes old and not so
old. They work very well together.

MAR. 4 LE VENT DU NORD. This spectacular band from French Canada is
a past winner of the Best of Bound for Glory award. When they were on
the show two years ago, the energy was electric. Their songs delight,
their tunes make you want to dance, and their good humor is infectious.
Don't miss this show.

MAR. 11 MIKE AGRANOFF. Mike is an old friend of Bound for Glory by
now. He's a humorist, yarn spinner, writer of recitations, ornery and
delightful. He's got a serious side as well, as a traditionally
oriented folk singer. His approach to folk music is unique and
memorable, and just plain fun.

On MARCH 18 and 25, Bound for Glory will be Albums from the Studios.
Give Phil a call at 607-273-2121. Next Live Bound for Glory? APRIL 1.
This Spring we'll be welcoming SPARKY AND RHONDA RUCKER, LISSA
SCHENECKENBURGER AND HER BAND, MUSTARD'S RETREAT, and other fine musicians.

WVBR's BOUND FOR GLORY, North America's longest running live folk
concert broadcast, Ithaca, NY, since 1967.
