They ranked this episode as #64 with the caption "Edith Is Raped" but
the article itself said "sexually assaulted", which is how I remember
it - the attacker got partially undressed, but before he went very far
(thank God) they smelled something burning in the kitchen (a birthday
cake?) and he followed her in there to take care of it, she pulled it
out of the oven and smacked him with it and ran out the door. When she
came back with the cops, all they found were his clothes, which sent
her into hysteria, but I think it was from the attack itself, not the
degree of it.

You're right, I thought of that too. It was a cake and she threw it in
his face and then she ran next door to Mike and Gloria and collapsed in
Archie's arms.

I saw a rerun of the episode a few years ago and I thought it was
attempted rape also(althougt that doesn't make the situation anyless
effective) until I saw the TV Guide. Thanks for clearing that up.

FYI, the actor who played the rapist was David Dukes, who
played Wade Halsey on the now defunct Sisters.

That's not his fault. He's just an actor, though I'm sure
some people have been turned off when they hear his name. He's really
just an average actor however.

I think he also played one of the husbands on "The Mommies" before
they revamped it.
