Catherine did quite a few takes but the last one clinched it!!! Essentially,
she was motioning.....to the... Four Stations of the Cross, to the beat of
the
the [classical] music. .........On that take, a fly landed to the left of
her nose
where Catherine sort of winced her nose and kept on going...........we
in the studio pissed our pants laughing our guts out!!!
The director said "Cut!!! Cut!!!!....let's do it again, but the the crew
mutinied
and said that was the best take and they would NOT do it again.
That is the skit you see 'till this day.
They are a great bunch....and if you want.....I will tell you more
if you want.
Any questions dear viewers?

One SCTV sketch I fondly recall (although others have claimed I must
have imagined it, since they never saw it) was "The Nana Mouskouri
Story", which featured (I think) Andrea Martin as the bespectacled
Greek singer.
I saw this sketch only once, during the NBC late night run of the
show, and have never caught it during later runs of the program in
syndication or on Nick at Nite. Perhaps because the singer it
spoofs is not as well known in the U.S., the sketch is no longer
rerun? This would be odd, since many Benny Hill and Monty Python
bits parody British shows unknown to US audiences, but are still
funny in their own way.

In a while I will give you the dope on it......

TOM (and others)....the person to write to is
Andrew Alexander
Firehall Productions
Second City Comedy Club
Lombard Street (can't remember the #)
Toronto, Ontario
CANADA
All the old shows were cut up and edited to fit a 30min time
slot. I am sure that many of the old scenes were never
used for the syndication, and just lie buried on tape
somewhere.
Maybe if enough people write, Andrew may have another
look at them and release them.
We'll see........

After introducing the contestants, Alex tries for some simple banter;
ALEX: So Darren Peel, do you have a family?
DARREN: Yes Alex, I have a mother and a father and a brother named Darren.
ALEX: No Darren, I mean do you have a family of your own?
DARREN: I don;t follow you Alex...
ALEX: Do you have a wife...?
DARREN: Oh yes Alex, I have a lovely wife and two wonderful young sons named
Frank.
And that's just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to SCTV!!
Ted!
Of course, looking back now, that one is kind of eerily prophetic.
And that Andrea Martin take off on the "Sophia" perfume commercial.
ANd, of course, Dr Tongue.

Any skit with Edith Prickley. Just the sight
of all that faux leopard skin would send
me into gails of laughter.

Trivia
The big black guy who grabs Flaherty and me as Hope and Crosby in the
Harem had to be overdubbed he was so bad. My recollection is that it was
either me or Flaherty who did his voice.

Uh, correction: that's MEL'S Rockpile. You're right though, it's a classic.
