For those who can deduce the lie in the post but not sure
exactly what the nature of it is, Santorum said nothing
about smart people. He was referring to the mainstream
media and academia (colleges and universities) having
institutional liberal bias.

Beyond the verbatim "We will never have the elite smart people on our
side" quotation.

He was referring to the mainstream

More than that. He was claiming that liberal bias is inherent in being
educated or employed in the news industry, because those things make
people think they are qualified to tell other people what what to do.
As opposed to the churches who never tell peple what to do.

Demonstrating the lie a different way, since context is everything.
"Elite smart people" are being dissed, in an if the shoe fits kind
of way, within the mainstream media and academia. He isn't
dissing smart people unless they're in that elite-thinking (and acting)
group. If he were being completely honest about it, he might have
also widened the net to include certain Republican Establishment
types in New York, Washington, etc.. who seek favor with same.

The reason is irrelevant for purposes of demonstrating the lie,
or that what he said gets taken out of context and so on. One
could debate the reason, but anyone who denies liberal bias in
the mainstream media and academia isn't credible.

Oh fuck, what he's saying is that it's ok to be smart if you agree
with me.. If you don't agree with me then clearly you are part of the
"elite smart people". It's the same old crap the assholes like
Santorum always put out. The guy's a moron.

But the implication is that these people are "elite" because they are
smart. After all, he wasn't talking about people who were members of
royal families or whose families had a lot of money: he was just
talking about people who had a university education. Supposedly you
only vote for the Republicans if you don't know any better: it is
refreshing to hear a Republican come out and say something that
"liberals" have been saying all along.

Actually the implication is that being an educator or newsman makes you
a liberal.

Agreed--I think Santorum's an idiot too.

Seriously? You would categorize what you do here as "education"?

Our society really IS doomed if that's the case.

To be fair, I should characterize it as being anal. Thee's a lot of
Sheldon in me. More generally, what I "do here" is read about and
discuss TV. But it's like looking at a physical bulletin board: There's
so much crap plastered over the real posters that it's hard to see
what's happening. I could just lift up the crap and read under it, or I
could be helpful by tearing down the crap and throwing it in the
wastebasket.

And when I get a chance I suggest that others do the same, present
company included. Society really is doomed if people don't learn, and
that won't happen if nobody teaches.

Nonsense. You're being a pompous ass. All you're doing is pasting new crap
over the other shit on that virtual bulletin board. Stop kidding yourself.

Of course the only way to REALLY do anything is to exercise your right to
ignore and utilize a killfile...anything else is simply adding to the noise.

Absolutely. The word too many people ignore is "ignore."
