MAY: Does Helen Smoke?

I recently found out that Jamie on " Mad About You " smokes. What I was
wondering is if anyone knew if Helen does as well. I sorta hope she
doesn't though!!!

I'd be curious to know this as well (Altho Jamie has quit smoking and
does so now onlu under periods of stress, like during the Thanksgiving
episode).
I'm also curious, is Helen Hunt married in real life? And how old is
she?
I'm fast becoming a dedicated viewer of Mad About You.

The answers are (to my memory of a TV Guide article a couple years ago):
no, and around 30. I remember the article saying that Paul Reiser and the
show's co-creator (can't remember the name) were both married, and drew
from personal experience in the writing and acting, but that Helen Hunt
was not married. Paul and co-creator were impressed that she took to the
scripts like she had first-hand experience, even tho' she was single.

The US article says that Helen is not married, but I don't think it
mentions whether she smokes or not.

I don't know if she does, but on last week's show it was a
flashback type episode to their wedding and she was sort of smoking
during that due to stress; but he kept taking the cig out of her hand.

As an ex-smoker, I've developed the peculiar hobby of trying to
determine if the on-screen smokers are in fact real smokers
off-screen. You can generally tell by watching the
inhale/exhale action. Non-smokers will inhale the smoke just
into their mouths. When they exhale, it sort of plops out in
one big cloud.
Real smokers take the smoke into their lungs where it gets
spread out into all those little nooks and crannies. Thus
during exhaling, you get the long, faint stream of smoke,
sometimes down right invisible. Also, smoke will make its way
out through the nostrils.
Based on these observations, I pretty much decided that Helen
Hunt is a real smoker from the one on-camera inhale she did in
the wedding episode. But, I'd be the first to admit - this
ain't exactly science!!
