Looks like Ubi hasn't done one of these for Thursday, so I will.

Yesterday was my "full workday" for the week, so I did not watch a
whole heck of a lot:

Superman & Lois (recorded) - "Loyal Subjekts" (ep. #1.9). Superman is
still suffering some aftereffects of the "kryptonite gas" from the
previous episode, and in a rather dumb plot development, he somehow
passes it on to Jordan, who becomes so sick that Clark has to take him
to the Fortress for a "cure". (On the plus side, Jordan now claims to
have "freeze breath", which out of all of Superman's powers was the one
that I always thought was the dumbest!)
Back in Smallville, Lois & co. investigate Morgan Edge and his
"program". This prompts Edge and Leslie Larr to send some
jacked-up-on-X-Kryptonite goons, which include Sarah's father, Kyle! to
go after Lois and Jonathan, who only escape being decimated(ha!! :p )
by a last second intervention by Superman. Later, Kyle admits to Lana
that he "lost time" and doesn't remember what happened.
In the end, Superman confronts Edge, who reveals that he is a
Kryptonian himself, and his "brother".

Awake (The Netflix) - Covered by Arthur in Wednesday's WDYW? thread.
This had an impressive cast, and a decent premise, but both the
follow-through and the ultimate explanations for this were... less than
satisfactory.
And it was a little jarring to see Ariana Greenblatt, who played the
EVOL!!1! little sister on "Stuck on the Middle", here playing a
scaredy-cat drip!
But kudos for Gina Rodriguez for going all sci-fi on us as a
producer - I appreciate someone who's willing to mix it up!!

Lethal Love Letter (LMN) - This was OK. On the plus side, it did sport
plenty of "suspects". But on the minus side, there was never really any
doubt who the real "perp" was, so that diffuses a lot of the "thriller"
elements when you know who the "Bad Guy" is from the beginning. I did
like how Clare Grant's character "takes care of business" in the final
act, so at least we don't have to worry about a sequel for this one!

I then saw some of "Fatal Fiancé" on LMN afterwards, and while I like
the premise, this is a flick this is almost single-handedly ruined by
bad (gimmicky, over-the-top) directing - it's actually so bad that I
think somebody should *reedit* this flick to fix the problem!

Recorded for later: GH, and Legacies (is back!)!!

What did you watch?

"Who would ever do this to him!?" - HottCiara on DOOL (04-27-2020), asking
who would stab Victor Kirakis... How about ANYONE WHO'S EVER MET HIM??!!

You can actually blow cold air out of your mouth. But laser eyes...
I watched:

The Kid Detective (Netflix rental) Canadian mystery movie staring Adam
Brody as a former "Kid Detective" who came to fame as a young teenager
for solving various "mysteries" in the local community. Now as an adult
he is still trying to cling to that childhood fame while continuing to
work as a detective. He mostly works on low level nothing cases, until
one day a teenage girl walks in and asks him to solve the case of her
murdered boyfriend. This was a pretty good movie. Not great, but very
watchable. It sort of also works as a sequel to "Timmy Failure:
Mistakes Were Made" with Timmy now all grown up.

Infinite (Paramount+) Some how or another, Paramount+ got their hands on
a real movie. I guess there are only so many movies Netflix and Amazon
can buy. Anyway this one is directed by Antoine Fuqua and stars Mark
Wahlberg as a Highlander, I mean immortal, who keeps getting
reincarnated and with every new life retains the knowledge and skills
from the former life. Except this time he has a bad case of amnesia and
thinks he has schizophrenia. His former team needs him to remember his
past life so they can stop Chiwetel Ejiofor, who is also immortal, but
wants to wipe out all life on Earth so he can finally stop
reincarnating. It's a glossy Michael Bay style action flick. On that
level it's watchable.

Clarice - "Achilles Heel" - The team seems to go on the offensive
against the evil rich guy who is sending his goons out to murder people.
I was only half paying attention.

Wu Assassins (Netflix streaming) - I think I watched another episode of
this. I'm really not keeping track all that well, but I am making my
way through it.

You just can't have "laser eyes" without also being invulnerable.
Otherwise your eyes would fry the first time you lasered somebody.

Same goes for most of the other powers. Use super-strength, and your
bones would pulverize inside you. Fly at high altitude and your skin
would slough off from the friction and bitter cold.

I don't know how you can have "freeze breath" without destroying your
respiratory system, not to mention your face.

The aforementioned invulnerability. Breath, strength, speed, etc. are
all attributes humans already have, just made "super." But people
cannot shoot beams out of their eyes. All I'm saying is if I was going
to make a list of Superman's powers and rate them based on how "dumb"
they are, I'd put the power that doesn't correspond to anything a person
can actually do at the top of the list. People can in fact blow cold
air out of their mouths. I can even make an argument for X-Ray vision.
But no matter how hard they stare, the laser beams just aren't
happening! LOL. ;-)

I don’t know how you can have freeze breath at all. What’s the possible
mechanism? I can see super breath assuming that somehow your diaphragm can
go down indefinitely, but I don’t know how you chill the air before
expelling it.

I am legitimately confused by your confusion. I can blow hot or cold
air out of my mouth at will. It's not super freeze breath, but if I
place my hand to my mouth and blow the air coming out is cold, and if I
open my lips a bit more and blow from the back of my throat the air is hot.

Or put it this way, people blow on hot food to cool it off and blow on
their hands to warm them.

I think you're over thinking it. He's just taking a function normal
people can already do, and putting a super spin on it. Trying to figure
out how he chills the breath to below freezing levels is like asking how
does he fly. He just does. Now stop making me defend this!
