9 p.m. "Crossing Lines"

WEDNESDAYS
8 p.m. "Dragons' Den"
9 p.m. "Republic of Doyle"

THURSDAYS
8 p.m. "The Nature of Things"
9 p.m. "Doc Zone"

FRIDAYS
8 p.m. "Marketplace"
8:30 p.m. "The Rick Mercer Report" (repeat)
9 p.m. "The Fifth Estate"

SUNDAYS
7 p.m. "Heartland"
8 p.m. "Battle of the Blades"
9 p.m. "Dragon's Den" (repeat)

Notes: This time we won't have to wait until the new year for the next
season of Murdoch Mysteries. Cracked is replacing female leads with
Stefanie von Pfetten out and Brook Nevin (from Breakout Kings) in. The
only actually new show in the fall is Crossing Lines, the Prague filmed
import and the Canadian broadcast will lag behind the NBC one. Battle
of the Blades is reality show which teams up hockey players and figure
skaters...I have no idea what for. I've never even seen an ad for it,
and this is its fourth season. In the winter they'll have the Winter
Olympics, Hockey Night and some dumbass new reality show called Four
Rooms, so that's a dead loss.

What's different? About 5 of those shows have been on for about 80
years each, Saturday hockey about 300 years. So perennially typical
of CBC.

Murdoch Mysteries and Cracked were both picked up by CBC last year so
the news there is that they made it into a second season on CBC giving
me something to watch on Monday.

The schedule has shifted a bit. Dragons' Den is back to Wednesdays (it
used to be there, then was moved to Sunday's with a repeat or two
following). I thought Republic of Doyle had moved to SUndays too.

The only thing I don't recognize is "Crossing Lines".

COnsidering they don't run infomercials, it's an incredibly small lineup.
2 hours each night and some of that is repeats. Plus outside of that 2
hour Prime Time, "Steven & Chris" gets two airings in daytime, I think
another late night. No more late night movie except on Friday nights
(unless that's gone), so they run endless repeats after the news (though
at least some areas got back 11pm local news). SOme of the late night
repeats are older shows, "Being ERica" and the like, others are repeats of
current shows.

The only good thing is that come the new year, the scedule may change,
bringing back some of the programs that have limited run, like "Arctic
Air" (I've not seen any news about whether that's returning) and whatever
sitcoms they have. But I suppose that's not even a given.

The CBC is failing, they arne't adding new programs, they have a very
limited schedule and too many repeats, in prime time and elsewhere.
Except for news, there is no local programming. They claim they don't
have the money, but they aren't doing much with the resources they have.

Ouch. Has anyone seen the "Cracked" with von Pfetten? Was she "good"?
"Adequate"? "Terrible"?!...

I like Brooke Nevin, but I also like von Pfetten, and really don't
want to see her booted from a show unless she was terrible in it...

The CBC itself has been a dead loss for something like 30 years.

That's approximately how long it's been since I've watched one of their
shows. It should have been privatized long ago. We spend a billion or
more dollars a year in tax money to operate the CBC and, aside from
Hockey Night in Canada, hardly anyone watches it. We don't even get a
break from commercials by watching CBC. They seem to have as many
commercials as everyone else.

She was quite good, I thought. On the other hand they had kind of
written the character into a corner once it was exposed that she was
reporting on her partner's mental condition.

I agree. He felt betrayed and he doesn't trust her as a partner. For
cops, a partner is the difference between life and death.

Well that sucks. I thought she was good in the role. Can't say that
I'm happy she is leaving and even less in the manner that she appears
to be leaving based on her message:
Stefanie said this on Twitter:

Don't know Brooke Nevin so I can't say how she will be in the role. I
do notice that she's younger which makes her role as the lead
psychiatrist in this group seem unlikely.
