The young actress who played the little girl in Hitchcock's "The
Birds" is named Veronica Cartwright, and I always thought she looked
quite a bit like Angela. Are they related -- sisters, possibly? Or is
it purely my imagination that they look alike? I think the grown up V.
Cartwright was in "Alien", btw.
Second, Veronica was in Alien, Invasion of the Body Snatchers
(the remake) and quite a number of other movies recently. Her
career seems to be thriving as opposed to her sister's.

Must be the other way I think. Veronica was born in 1949 according to
Halliwell (Angela isn't listed). Angela was *very* young when she
started acting in "Make Room for Daddy" in 1957, certainly less than 8
years old. Likewise, she looks to be about 12 in the first season of
"Lost in Space" ('65), rather than 16. So I'd say she's about 4 years
younger than Veronica.
I think Veronica is older. She did some TV in the Sixties. She's
made a bunch of movies:
Alien
Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1979)
The Right Stuff
The Witches of Eastwick
Angela was in lots of TV in the Sixties, including The Twilight Zone.
She's best known for Make Room for Daddy, Lost in Space, and Make
Room for Granddaddy. She was in The Sound of Music, and was in
a few other movies. She's married and has at least one child.
She was profiled on a Disney show "You and Me, Kid" a few years back.
I don't remember that either was on the Mickey Mouse club, but I
only saw that in reruns.

} Yes, they are sisters. I believe they started out with the Disney
} studios, as child actresses appearing on _The Mickey Mouse Club_, etc.
They may have been guests on TMMC at some point (like, say, on "Talent
Roundup Day", or whatever the hell they called Fridays), but they
certainly weren't regulars on the show.
(Last year, I was faithfully watching TMMC on the Disney Channel to catch
the serials I remembered as a kid.)
} Anybody know which is the older sister? (Just curious about trivia
} like this.)
Veronica is the older sister -- by three years, I think.

I just saw an interview on the TODAY show 7/24/89 with Bryant
and Veronica Cartwright. She was in numerous movies as a child including,
"The Birds" and also has been in several current movies such as
"Witches of Eastwick" (she was the goody-goody, the fourth witch if
you didn't read the book) and "Aliens" (navigator?).
She typically plays bit parts, although she had a very important
part in Witches, and is now getting some recognition.
Unfortunatly, I was tired when listening and did not get the name
of her next movie, but Bryant did ask about her sister Angela and she
said she is a mother of two.

"It's amazing how subjective this stuff is!"
I first noticed Veronica in (the remake of) INVASION OF THE BODY
SNATCHERS; besides ALIEN I have also seen her in THE WITCHES OF
EASTWICK as the uptight wife of the newspaper publisher (wasn't she
the victim of the cherry pit prank?). I have also wondered if the two
Cartwrights are related.

I remember watching a local kids program circa '65 when "The Sound of
Music" came out and most (if not all) the actors that played the Trapp
children were interviewed. At that time I seem to recall Angela as saying
she was 16 - I believe the role she played in the movie was a 12-year-old,
but I'll look it up.
In the meantime, the New York Daily News had a feature on the Cartwright
sisters about a week or two ago - I'll see if it's still in the house
(chances are quite good...) and try and post what I discover.

I neglected to mention that it was during this interview that Angela announced
that her next role was going to be "Lost in Space." Time to get to bed...
