My wife needs to know if these two woman are mother/daughter or maybe
aunt and niece. I don't even know who they are.

I do not believe that Shelly Fabares and Nanette Fabray are related.

Nanette Fabray and Shelly Fabares are indeed aunt and neice!
Reason for different spelling of last name--Shelly's aunt, Nanette,
was concerned about pronunciation problems and chose `Fabray'.
She suggested Shelly do the same, but Shelly opted for the family
spelling of `Fabares' (pronounced Fah-bear-ay).

I luuuuuuuuuuuv Shelly Fabares.

Nanette is Shelly's aunt. Nanette changed the spelling of her name.

Even though they spell their last names differently, Nanette is, indeed,
Shelly's aunt.

Actresses Nanette Fabray and Shelley Fabares are aunt and niece.

Other people have posted that information, but so far no one whose article
has reached here has gotten the niece's first name right.

By the way, the version I heard holds that Nanette was never fond of going
by the simplified spelling and has always been perfectly happy that Shelley
stuck with the actual family name.

But it's true. They are aunt and niece (Nanette is the aunt, of course).
Shelley goes by the original spelling of the last name; I assume that
Nanette had changed the spelling of hers so people would know how to
pronounce it.

I believe their names are spelled differently - Nanette Fabray and
Shelley Fabres. Are they related?

: Yes, Janet Brown is correct. they are Aunt and neice. Nanette changed
: the spelling of her name to "Americanize" it and make it easier for
: the public to pronounce. Shelley's name is Fabares (pronounced fab-a-ray').
: I think I got this information from an extremely reliable source (probably
: something like a Ladies' Home Journal or Redbook or something :)).

Americanize? What country does Nanette (or her surname) come from?

Did you ever think that _maybe_ the word 'unknown' *was* his user
id? If he didn't want his name/id to be known, his name wouldn't
show up. Matt has a *great* point. If I'm reading the
attributes correctly, the last poster before Matt said exactly
the same thing that you did, and she even quoted the part where
you _wrote_ they were aunt and niece.
