Did anybody see the recent "expose" (I believe it was on 60 minutes)
on the new children's T.V. star XUXA (you know, the blonde-haired, blue eyed
babe who puts out that kooky half-hour kids show from Disneyland).
Appearently, she got her start making soft-core porno films in Brazil! I
could'nt believe it myself when I first heard about it. I thought I awoken
in some kind of alternate universe. But once I regained my senses I knew I
could only do one thing: GET MY HANDS ON THOSE MOVIES!!!!!!

Thus, users of this newsgroup, hear my cry: Does anyone out there
have any information about the existance and/or availability of the films
which I like to call XUXA: The Early Years?

One Thousand Thanks,

That story has been around for quite a while...even before she started
airing in the US. She apparently moved out of the porn business and into
children's shows in Brazil....since sex is not as taboo down there, that
probably wasn't very hard to do.

I would expect that it would be much more difficult for an American soft-core
porn star to switch to children's shows.

P.S. No, I don't know where you can find the movies, but I am sure that it
will probably become easier, now that it is widely-known-about.

Nuts! No I didn't. Anyone got of tape of it?

It sounds worse than it is -- especially once you consider the culture.

Here's an excerpt from an _L.A. Times_ _Calendar_ article from April 19,
1992:

But her biggest sins in the eyes of her detractors were posing
for nude photos as a young model and her appearance, at age 18, in a
Brazilian soft-core film called "Love Strange Love." The film shows her
seducing a 12-year-old boy.

"I'm sure you heard of my film," she says, bringing up the
subject of the movie herself. "People say I have done bad things, but
the dirty thoughts are not in the minds of the children; they are not in
my mind. They are in the minds of adults. I did the film a long time
ago, and I don't do that sort of thing anymore. I was very young."

The best I can suggest is to take a trip down to Rio. I've been in
contact with people at GLOBO, her management company, and they said
they'd tell me about availability of all things Xuxa. Soon after,
everyone left when she started taping this season's run of Spanish and
Portuguese shows, I haven't heard a thing from them since -- despite
regular attempts. Most frustrating.

I'm tempted to suggest you join the Xuxa mailing list. However, it's
been pretty dead since the show went into reruns and the Globo people
went to South America. *sigh*

It's important to differentiate what america culture sees as "porno", and what
brazilians do. In Brazil, nudity and sex scenes are a standard thing even in TV
soap operas. In movies, it's almost a given. It's part of the brazilian culture
(unfortunatelly so in my opinion). Therefore, even the most well respected brazilian
actors and actresses, have probably been in various movies with sex and nudity scenes.
It was in these types of movies that Xuxa appeared in, along with several other well
respected brazilian actors/actresses. There are of course movies that are considered
"porno" even in Brazil (no plot, very explicit sex scenes, B actors/actresses), and
in those Xuxa never appeared. This whole "porno" thing was never even an issue in
Brazil when Xuxa began her show.

At any rate, Xuxa didn't become famous in Brazil because of movies. She became famous
because she was Pele's (the soccer player) girlfriend, and a top model. As a matter
of fact, she was only in a couple of movies, and most of the money she made before the
children's show was as a model in Brazil and the U.S. .

For the record, I'm not either a Xuxa lover or hater. I just didn't want cultural
differences to distort facts.
