Does anyone know what happened to www.tvrss.net?

Is there another site that has only TV shows?

--- Just download a little piece of software like BitComet, install it
and that becomes your portal to all kinds of torrent sites. You can
get it from bitcomet.com.

Bitcomet is the torrent program. The site,Tvtorrents.com, requires you get
an invitation from someone who's already a user.

one?

BitComet is a bittorrent client, a piece of software, not a site for
downloading torrents like http://isohunt.com for example.

Because the site offers private torrents for it's users. What's so hard to
understand about that? If you don't have the torrent file, Bitcomet does
you no good.

OK, gotcha, but I wanted a site that has ONLY TV shows in case I miss
something and/or forget to record it.

The site I was using www.tvrss.net would usually have most TV shows
uploaded within 24 hours. Still don't know what happen to them, the
site is still up on Google but the link doesn't work.

Yeah. The dedicated tv site is great because not only is everything
there just TV, you'll get the downloads within a few hours of a
broadcast and I've yet to have a faulty download.

You'll also find tv shows there that you never imagined you'd find or
had forgot about.

--- Well, it's amazing, then, that I've been able to find all that
I've looked for. Even got all 10 episodes of Thieves, including the 2
unaired ones, last year via BitComet. And shows that have aired the
day or night before will normally turn up within 24 hours via
BitComet, too. How do you think I get my Burn Notice? And that
usually appears within 6-8 hours after airing. Which reminds me, I
still have to watch it. Great, I've got something to do later on.

--- Well, fine. But while most other torrent sites include just about
everything, the better organized ones will have a separate section
just for TV stuff, along with a separate section for movie stuff,
games, etc. Besides, regardless of the site, most shows will be
uploaded within 24 hours of airing anyway and become available across
the board. It's the internet, after all - it's all interconnected.

--- Did you read their message? "tvRSS will be down for a few hours
in the afternoon this Saturday (17-Jul-2008) (Pacific Time) as the
server will be rebuilt. You will not be able to access tvRSS during
this time." But it does seem like more than a few hours since they've
gone down, huh?

--- Works fine for me. I just clicked on Shark just for the hell of
it and it took me straight to the Mininova page. The site seems to be
little more than a link to torrent sites, which is exactly what
BitComet does, only you select the torrent site from a list of sites
and find what you're looking for that way. Same difference, different
means. But it might be advisable to use PeerGuardian to help deflect
any unwanted snoops while you're performing the dirty deed.

--- Did you have the site bookmarked? If you're going through the
bookmark, maybe the bookmark no longer functions because of whatever
problems they had at the site and then when they got back on line,
sometimes you can lose the bookmark link. Delete the old bookmark and
also delete your cache, all your history and cookies stuff, both on
Firefox and IE. You might need to start fresh to get re-established.
Can you even get onto the main page just by using the link you
provided? Or better yet, try to get to the show list page:

http://www.tvrss.net/shows/

If that still doesn't work, then do all the delete stuff I mentioned
and, just to add a little extra to getting a fresh internet
connection, restart your computer and try again and see what happens.

Can you ping the site or run a tracert from a command prompt? If you don't
know how, open a command prompt (dos prompt) and type "tracert
www.tvrss.net" without the quotes then hit enter. see where it's timing
out. I bet there is a router down somewhere on the route if you get
timeouts.

--- The only other thing I can think of is that it could be some sort
of security setting issue. Double-check your firewall and any other
programs you have running that are meant to block traffic and see if
the site got inadvertently blacklisted. Also, in IE go to
Tools>Internet Options>Security. The setting as I have it is Medium
for Internet. Then in the same box go to Restricted Sites, click on
the Sites tab, and see if the web site has somehow ended up on the
restricted list. If so, simply select it and remove it. Failing all
that, you might want to go over to www.annoyances.org to post a
question about this. The techno-geeks there have helped me lick
several vexing problems in the past.

After being with them on the phone for an hour, they are sending a

You said you turned off any firewalls. The only other thing that might
block it that I can think of is some sort of spyware blocking tool like
Spyware Blaster, Adaware and Spybot search and destroy.

Spyware Blaster blocks my customized start page at Excite.com because it
sees excite's cookie as a tracking cookie.

You're preaching to the choir. Hey, if they wanna send someone out
it's fine with me.

I won't be surprised if it's fixed before they get there. Often things like
this are dns errors also.

Couldn't sleep and had a thought.

Google Accelerator supposedly uses it's on routing system. So I
installed GA and I can now acsess http://tvrss.net/shows/. Not that
this sloves the problem, because I don't won't GA on my computer, but
it certainally narrows down the problem.

Will see what solution the tech comes up with on Tuesday.

I'd be willing to bet it's RR's DNS servers then. I think Google
accelerator is using it's own along with caching to get the appearance of
extra speed.

If you know how to configure your network connection to use a static IP
address, you can also force the use of specific DNS servers. Here's some
instructions: http://corz.org/comms/hardware/router/static.ip.address.php

Or you can set the DNS servers in the router itself if you have one. I did
that because I was having a lot of problems with Verizon's DNS servers. I
was constantly losing the internet connection completely overnight and
having to reset the router every day. You can use 4.2.2.2 and 4.2.2.3 which
are open DNS servers.

Given Google accellerator worked, I bet this would too.

Or you can modify the hosts file.

I'm after an invite to TV Torrents please. I have been using uTorrent
and Vuze for years but have recently changed my internet account to
one that has a free 75GB per month allowance for torrents. Yee haa,
also means I upload and seed as much as I can within my 75 GB
allowance.

So please, I am after a few shows that dont seem to be on the other
sites.

Thansk anyone who can help.

Appointment was scheduled for this afternoon. Got up this morning,
checked to see if I could access the site, and got a connection
immediately. Still working just fine.
