Much of Harlem has been gentrified, i.e., youngish and mostly white
people moved in, bought or took over the decrepit apartment buildings,
and renovated them. The buildings were bargains, especially in
Manhattan. Of course Whole Foods is there. So are the rest of them.

Whole Foods is at 100 West 125th. That street is the main drag for the
neighborhood.

I've got a store about 5 minutes from me that sells balsamic vinegar for $600 a bottle. Maybe they should put that in poor areas?

There’s a steak place named STK that delivers near me which has been
advertising on the Facebook. I went in to check their prices and offerings.
Eight dollars for a bottle of Fiji water. $18 for a side of tater tot‘s.
I’m not really sure who they think they’re kidding.

visited him. He moved. The closest one to me is 80 miles away and I

in the county, and the same chain in the two adjacent cities,
so it they don't carry it, you're SOL.

Wegmans' is a two hour drive in one direction, Giant a
three+ hour drive in the opposite direction.

In counties like that (at least here in Georgia) there will be the one
grocery store but a lot of the vegetables will be bought at the local
farmer's market. In some cases there will also be little shops that
have fresh fruit available year round but in most cases fruits and
vegetables will be available only in season. Which is were canning
comes into play as well as deep freezers full of food so people can
have their fruit and veg. even out of season.

Been inside a Whole Foods once and can understand why it was called
Whole Paycheck. Never been inside a Trader Joe's yet but I have seen a
few on Youtube and it does seem like a well thought out store. As for
getting to either one looks like both are within 10 miles of me with
Trader Joe's being right by where I used to work some years ago, not
that I get down there any more.

and crime-ridden slum and turning it into something that's a actually
