It's not racism, it's cost of food. The only thing the lower class can afford to eat is high cal. processed s---- and each meal is 2000 calories. Couple that with the fact these people don't DO anything physical, they just sit around so no wonder they get fat. Bidenflation on good quality fresh food doesn't help

My favorite part is when all the racist white do-gooder 'progressives'
state authoritatively that there are no Trader Joe's and Whole Foods in
black neighborhoods...

Much of Harlem has been gentrified, i.e., youngish and mostly white
people moved in, bought or took over the decrepit apartment buildings,
and renovated them. The buildings were bargains, especially in
Manhattan. Of course Whole Foods is there. So are the rest of them.

Whole Foods is at 100 West 125th. That street is the main drag for the
neighborhood.

Well, you can always fall back on reactionary liberal, "Harlem has gentrified" so no longer qualifies as a "poor area..."

It's reality. You don't put up grocery and food stores in poor areas that sell beef for $15/lb or oranges for $9/bag. Unless you want to go broke.
I've got a store about 5 minutes from me that sells balsamic vinegar for $600 a bottle. Maybe they should put that in poor areas?

There’s a steak place named STK that delivers near me which has been
advertising on the Facebook. I went in to check their prices and offerings.
Eight dollars for a bottle of Fiji water. $18 for a side of tater tot‘s.
I’m not really sure who they think they’re kidding.

Inflation has hit hard. Place I went for prime rib has a special cut. Used to cost $27.00. Now? $69.00.
Point being, obesity like all other perceived problems are not any result of racism but of income, and class.

I've already explained that the neighborhood we're talking about has
long since been gentrified. It's full of wealthy white people. That's
why Whole Foods is there in the first place. *That's* reality, not
some vision of Harlem you got from a TV show made in 1965.

Parts of Harlem have been gentrified. Only racist dopes think Harlem
is one big, massive housing project.

I'd have to drive two hours to get to Whole Foods and
Trader Joes (across the street from each other at that)
and I'm not black.

And I'm not obese.

Somehow I manage with the one-and-only grocery store
in the county that does have some fresh fruit and veg.

There are options, even if they aren't organic, progressive
money pits of stores.

Nyssa, who just bought fruit and veg two days ago, so
it still exists, although with fewer choices than before
the plague hit

The nearest Whole Foods is 35 mi away from me. Trader Joe's is 38 mi.
I manage very nicely with good stores that are a lot closer.

Nevertheless, I was in a Trader Joe's once. It was impressive. Not
let's-drive-40-mi-for-groceries impressive, but still impressive. I
don't think I bought anything.

I like TJs, there's one near where my son lived I used to go to when I
visited him. He moved. The closest one to me is 80 miles away and I
would only go there if I was also shopping for anything else. I've been
in a Whole Foods and there's nothing there I'd buy anyway.

If Wegmans doesn't have it, Giant does. That's what I've been reduced
to.

At least you have a choice. There's only one grocery store
in the county, and the same chain in the two adjacent cities,
so it they don't carry it, you're SOL.

Wegmans' is a two hour drive in one direction, Giant a
three+ hour drive in the opposite direction.

Pity us folks who live in the boonies. But OTOH there are
fewer people around to catch the plague from.

Nyssa, who probably would have caught the plague by now
if she still lived in the Big City

Whole Foods will deliver to me and there’s still nothing to buy there.

There’s a Trader Joe’s a few miles away but 100 feet past it there’s AJ‘s
fine foods which is the best grocery in town. The only people that go to
Trader Joe’s are the same people claim PCs are better than Macs because
they’re cheaper.

In counties like that (at least here in Georgia) there will be the one
grocery store but a lot of the vegetables will be bought at the local
farmer's market. In some cases there will also be little shops that
have fresh fruit available year round but in most cases fruits and
vegetables will be available only in season. Which is were canning
comes into play as well as deep freezers full of food so people can
have their fruit and veg. even out of season.

Been inside a Whole Foods once and can understand why it was called
Whole Paycheck. Never been inside a Trader Joe's yet but I have seen a
few on Youtube and it does seem like a well thought out store. As for
getting to either one looks like both are within 10 miles of me with
Trader Joe's being right by where I used to work some years ago, not
that I get down there any more.

'Gentrified' being the progressive euphemism for cleaning up a benighted
and crime-ridden slum and turning it into something that's a actually
productive and attractive place to live.

You didn't even mention race and you still sound like a racist bastard,
