On "virtual D&D night" , I watched:

Nothing.

What did you watch?

Yesterday, I fired up my new grill for the first time, and watched:

No One Lives (Tubi) - Actually watched this on Tuesday, but forgot to
mention it.
This was obviously a low-budget B-movie, but surprisingly starred
Luke Evans, and also sported Laura Ramsey (this looks like this was one
of her last projects before she effectively retired), Lee Tergesen,
Adelaide Clemens, and in pleasing surprise Lindsey Shaw!
Anyway, this was appropriately gory (*really* gory!!), and the
"twist" involving Evans' character was one I didn't see coming. I also
appreciated the ending (though it seems to purposely contradict the
title!) and it seemed to be setting up a sequel (that never came).

Man in the High Castle (Prime) - "The Illustrated Woman" (ep. #1.3).
Hey, look! - it's Murtry from "The Expanse", playing the creepy Nazi
bounty hunter named "the Marshall". Anyway, Juliana and Joe try to
avoid the Marshall, while Juliana tries to figure out her contact.
Meanwhile, <s>Harry</s> Frank is released, and starts to plot his
revenge against the Japs.

soaps: B&B - Bitch Steffy has security escort Ivy from the premises of
Forrester Creations.
DOOL - More crazy antics with Gabi! Crazy Claire secretly sabotages
HottCiara's wedding dress, so clearly she's still crazy! Vivian crashes
Lani and Eli's wedding to shoot Lani for "killing" Stefan, but Rafe
stops her and then reveals to Vivian that "Jake" may actually be Stefan
after all.

The Cleansing (Tubi) - Very low budget British(? - IMDb claims the
setting is Wales, though that was never established in the film) horror
film. Set in the 14th century, the Plague is wiping out a village, and
the villagers start to blame a teenaged girl (Rebecca Acock) at the
village for being a witch and causing the Plague, after the local
priest has the girl's plague-ridden mother killed and then whips up the
village against her when she rejects his advances.
While I liked that the girl was portrayed as a headcase who
basically brings a lot of this on herself by 1) being an obstinate
weirdo, and 2) not leaving the village immediately after they killed
her mother, this movie was way too low-budget to actually enjoy. There
was also a "twist" towards the end that I didn't appreciate - it was
revealed too abruptly, and didn't seem to match anything that came
before.
I did like what they seemed to do with the actual ending (that was a
twist I really didn't anticipate!), but then didn't like that they
ultimately didn't seem to *commit* to this ending, and tried to have it
both ways.

Stargirl (recorded) - "Shiv Part One" (ep. #1.7). I liked this episode,
though probably not as much as Arthur did.
We get background on the awful HS mean girl, Cindy Burman, and find
out why she's so mean. (I didn't get what they were trying to say about
Cindy's "stepmother" (Lesa Wilson) - is she not a real person, and just
a "creation"?! or a robot?!) But, like the annoying Courtney, the mean
and evil Cindy is itching to "join the team", in Cindy's case the ISA
but, like Courtney by Pat, Cindy keeps getting shut down by her
EVOL!!1! father, Dr. Ito. Eventually, she defies her father to take on
Stargirl as "Shiv".
I did like that Shiv royally kicked Stargirl's ass (who, because of
her own thoughtlessness earlier in the episode, was "sans team"). I
also like the mystery with the school's weird janitor, who turns out to
have a sword and have some connection to the JSA (as the Shining
Knight?...).
Part Two is up next.

Project Almanac (Tubi) - I've been meaning to watch this, and
"Chronicle" (which is only on The Hulu right not), for ages.
Anyway, while I liked the concept of this one (and appreciated
Virginia Gardner's cleavage in this!), it was over-long - the sequence
at Lollapalooza, especially, went on *way too long*.
Oh, and it is filmed as a "found-footage" film which will annoy a
lot of people (like Arthur!).
The Gist: Nerdy prospective-MIT student (Jonny Weston) and his two
nerdy HS friends, along with his hot but dumb sister (Gardner) who
films everything to keep a "log" of their "research efforts" (so,
unfortunately, Gardner is not in many of the films shots), discover his
late brilliant scientist dad's research notes which appear to be the
schematics for a time machine. Soon enough, the hott girl (Sofia
Black-D'Elia) the prospective-MIT nerd has a crush on is dragged into
this as well. It's not long before the idiots start using the time
machine they build to their own advantage, with the predictable
"unintended consequences".
I think I would have liked this more if it had been 20 minutes
shorter - it definitely felt like a script that needed a few more
passes through the typewriter.

Recorded for later: The 'Hundred[sic], and SHIELD!!

--
"Who would ever do this to him!?" - HottCiara on DOOL (04-27-2020), asking
who would stab Victor Kirakis... How about ANYONE WHO'S EVER MET HIM??!!

Dr. Evil mentioned it takes 2 weeks to condition them. I'm guessing the
people in robes are brainwashed along with some chemical conditioning as
well. Although I think the wife is probably a standard abused wife.
She wouldn't be acting that way if she was programed.
I definitely remember seeing this, but I don't recall if I liked it or
not. I'm guessing I probably did. I have a huge soft spot for time travel.

I watched:

Agents of SHIELD - "Adapt or Die" - This was a pretty good follow up to
last week's episode. With the team still in the 70s, they have to fight
off the combined forces of the Chronicoms, and a technologically
advanced SHIELD as well as elements of Hydra. Some real nice twists and
turns in this one. Word of warning, do *not* watch the trailer for next
week. It's full of spoilers.

Manhattan (TCM) 1979 Woody Allen movie. Allen stars as a middle aged
man in a love triangle with an underage girl (Mariel Hemingway) and his
best friend's mistress (Diane Keaton). I know I've seen this movie
before, but I didn't remember it. I didn't really care much for it.
Besides, is it really believable that Woody Allen would ever date a
teenage girl young enough to be his daughter? Anyway, now that I've
knocked this out, I *might* finally watch some of the Woody Allen movies
I have on disc. I actually do like some of his movies and I haven't
watched them in forever.

6 Underground (Netflix streaming) Michael Bay action movie staring Ryan
Reynolds as a billionaire who fakes his own death so he can create his
own team of mercenaries to take evil doers all over the world. This was
*not* a good movie, even by Michael Bay standards. Honestly, it didn't
even feel like a Michael Bay movie. It felt more like a cheap Michael
Bay knock off. Towards the end, I wasn't even pay attention anymore.

It seems like the general sentiments on this are that it is not good.
(Is anyone surprised that a movie like this that went direct to Netflix
isn't good?!) Too bad - I like the premise: it has potential.

Ditto to all the above. Only thing that disappointed was the opening logo
which seemed sort of generic.

So does May have to touch you to feel your feelings or not? If she touched
the hot S.H.I.E.L.D. agentess I missed it ...

Of course it's not any good; it has Ryan Reynolds in it.

The only think worse than a Ryan Reynolds movie is a Ryan Reynolds movie also
featuring his fugly talent free wife.

I will - she's not "talent-free". He's basing that off "Green Latern",
which is like assessing Natalie Portman's or Daisy Ridley's talent off
"Star Wars" - it's a null analysis.

I liked The Rhythm Section. In particular I liked that it actually
tried to address how do you go on an international vengeance quest when
you don't have any money. That's the type of thing you *never* see in
revenge flicks. International vengeance ain't cheap! And it's about
time someone addressed that!

If you haven't seen it, add "A Simple Favor" to the watch list. Lively
is good in that as well.

I already have, and you and I discussed it - as you may remember, I was
disappointed by "A Simple Favor" when I thought it spun out of control
on the third act. But, yeah, I think she's OK in that.

The Lively performance that impressed me recently was "Age of Adeline".
IIRC, she was also decent in "All I See Is You" (even though I wasn't a
huge fan of that film...).

I don't understand the whole 'blown cover'/'give away our position'
thing. Sure, shooting the missile gives away their position *at that
moment*, but why can't they recloak and, you know, go somewhere else?

Yeah. Shoot the missile, cloak, get the Hell out of Dodge.

From dialog in the next ep, it seems S.H.I.E.L.D. *could* track them; I think
we were supposed to assume they needed an initial fix first, although they
sure didn't make that very clear.
