Wall-to-wall (Lifetime) movies!
Burden of Evil (LMN) - Natalie Zea (Justified, etc.) plays a dogged
homicide detective who is called in to rescue a kidnapped Senator's
daughter from the psycho (Ricky Mabe) who is conveniently the same guy
that killed her cop husband some years before. Ron Lea plays her boss.
Improbably, Michael Ironside plays the Senator - that's "crazy", as no
American state would ever elect a Canadian as Senator!!!1! Does anyone
doubt that Zea will play Raylan Givens here, and color the perp?!...
Do No Harm (LMN) - I hate my Tribune inspired on-air guide! - They had a
2009 TV movie listed for this, when in fact it was a 2012 TV movie
starring Deanna Russo! (Fred would have hated it!!)
Anyway, this one started really promisingly, and I thought it was
going to play against the usual 'Lifetime expectations' and skip all the
usual pyscho-stalker stuff, and just be a straight
character/psychological piece about a woman (Russo) overcoming a tragic
loss.
That only lasted about 30 minutes. :( Sure enough, the rest of the
movie is haunted by the ghost of Lauren Holly (say, remember when Lauren
Holly was a real person, and not a ghost??!!...), who plays Deanna
Russo's original shrink who has... shall we say an unhealthy attachment
to her patient (Russo). Wackiness ensues as Lauren Holly's ghost begins
stalking her, and Russo's boyfriend just thinks she's crazy!!
Deadly Hope (LMN) - Alana de la Garza and Sandrine Holt starred in this
one. de la Garza plays an ob/gyn whose partner ends up dead, murdered in
a very specific(ally medical) fashion. Holt plays the no-nonsense
detective on the case. Of course, the cops initially think de la Garza
did it, but soon multiple bodies turn up, and Sandrine Holt becomes
convinced that Alana de la Garza is actually being targeted by the
killer.
I enjoyed the leads of this one, but honestly I would have liked it a
lot more if there had been a 'twist' and de la Garza had turned out to
be the killer... :/
Murder on the 13th Floor (Lifetime) - This one was virtually Sci-Fi (I
kid you not!!)
Tessa Thompson plays the nanny to an extremely wealthy couple (Sean
Patrick Thomas, and a really really old looking Jordan Ladd - she's aged
about 30 years in the last 10!! :( ) who it just so happens live in
the penthouse of a new "smart" building (this is where the Sci-Fi comes
in! - the building is so "smart", its toilets can tell you when you're
pregnant!!).
Anyway, Ladd's character finds out that her husband (Thomas) has been
'dipping the wick' with the nanny (Thompson). So she foolishly hires a
couple of thugs to break in, "take over" the computer running the
'smart' building, and kill the nanny (without hurting Ladd's and Thomas'
son). It doesn't take a genius to figure out that Ladd's horrible plan
will go awry... and it does!! I did enjoy Thompson getting all "Death
Wish" in one scene.
Jesse Stone: Benefit of the Doubt (CBS) - Jesse Stone's dilemma from the
last 'Jesse Stone' flick is miraculously resolved when the Paradise
Police Chief hired to replace him is miraculously "blowed up" (along
with a fellow officer, whom I wasn't sure at first was 'Suitcase' or
not, but turned out not to be...), and Stone gets his job back, and must
investigate whodunnit. I must admit - I got lost in who did the crime,
and why, at the end... :/
Recorded for later: Mad Men (I think I have a backlog of 3 of these
now... :/ ) .

"We're gonna need a lot of therapy." - the character Rachel in "Bunnyman"
(named 1 of the 5 Worst Horror Films of 2011 by 28DaysLaterAnalysis.com!!)
