I haven't seen this addressed anywhere.... Can anyone tell me what
happened to Erika Flores who played Colleen on Dr. Quinn? The new
Colleen's ok, but is she on now for good? Looked like they changed the
opening segment when she started, but otherwise the change of actresses
wasn't addressed anywhere that I saw, in TV Guide or elsewhere.

Anyone know what happened? Did Erika Flores want off or was it the
show's decision?

Thanks, Schuyler

According to the Dr. Quinn Listserv., the parting was amiable. Erika
Flores wanted out and they did not fight it. Personally--as a fan--I
suspect it might have been a financial problem and this IS a rumor. I can
tolerate the new actress, but my 15 year old son still refers to her as
"the stand-in" and we do make a lot of jokes about that comet having
erased everybody's memory.

No one knows for sure. Someone involved in the show posted here that
Flores left the show to pursue her education.

I am dubious about that explaination.

Yes, unfortunately. I think Bowman(sp?) is OK in other roles I've seen her
in, but I don't like her on "Dr. Quinn".

If I had to guess, either the offered explainiation is accurate (which I
think is unlikely, otherwise Flores would have left at the *end* of a
season), or Flores had some conflict with someone on the show (guess who's
most likely?).

jane seymour has said in interviews as well as on her live chat on prodigy
when asked why erika flores left the show that it was erika's decision to
leave. she wished to do feature films but the producers didn't want to
rearrange their schedules to accommodate her otherwise the other actors
would be asking for similar privileges and there won't be a show. jane
said they begged erika to stay and she herself especially begged her.

erika *appeared* to have left in the middle of the season because unlike
other shows dr. quinn does not go on hiatus until july as it is shot on
location near los angeles and as you may know it gets very hot in the
summer. they film episodes for the next season *before* the summer which
is why erika had already shot several episodes for the third season before
she left.

since you are so interested in rumors you must have read that lecy
goranson (becky) who left roseanne to go to college is coming back for
their last season. i wouldn't be surprised if erika returns to the show
for the last season if her film career is not going as well as expected.
(now erika is a great actress but if i have to pay for it i may as well
watch alicia silverstone.)

The government got just a little too uncomfortable with her performance
and had her replaced.

Trust no one!

This is amazing. Why is it no one would believe CBS' explanation that
Erika Flores left because she wished to pursue other interests and the
producers let her out of her contract?

No one seems to remember Erika was just a pre-teen when Dr. Quinn
Medicine Woman first aired. She grew up on the show and we love her and
miss her. The show's producers and cast and crew not only watched her
grow up, they worked with her day after day for three years. Some of
them may have kids her age. Is it possible they also love her??? And
would have helped her deal with it if there was "a problem"? Perhaps
Erika decided it was time to leave after three years and they respected
her decision? Perhaps she wanted to have a chance to work on TV movies
or feature films? Perhaps she didn't like the idea of working long hours
on the set five days a week until she's twenty? Erika is just a kid.
Leave her alone!
