Garrett's being blackmailed on a false rape charge. The charge is
provably false because he's got email and text messages and plenty of
pictures. It's the most bizarre blackmail I've ever heard of. He made
the mistake of telling the wrong woman that he's an investment banker.
Garrett was merely trying to have revenge sex for his wife stepping out
on him. Henry worked some magic and made the problem disappear.

Jamie helps the White Shadow, only this time, he's an old hockey player
who took one too many blows to the head. He'd played for Montreal. It's
impossible to believe that a Canadian NFL team would have an American
player, though. This episode, Jamie's social worker magic works.

In a Halloween theme, Erin scares Danny's and Linda's kids while
trick-or-treating and they're scarred for life.

Also Halloween themed, Danny investigates a young man recently immigrated
from Haiti possessed by the spirit of Baron Samedi. Even the Catholic Church
believes he's possessed, for they send an exorcist. Tawny Cypress plays
a priestess.

Danny helpfully directs a technician analyzing security videos of a subway
platform on what to do, as if he'd have trouble picking out the guy in
the Baron Samedi costume.

Danny gets a new female partner who just so happened to have worked in Haiti
so she's an expert in vudoo. Megan Ketch as Det. Lansing. IMDb says her
first name is also Jamie, but I never heard it in dialogue.

Curatola is written off the show in a lame scene that may not have even
been produced for this episode, but just edited in. She claims to be
burned out. I assume this episode was meant to have aired two weeks ago,
as the last two weeks in which the character did not appear, Curatola
wasn't even mentioned, although the actress was credited. Will her
credit finally be dropped?

I'm pretty sure you mean NHL, not NFL :-) The main professional hockey
league, where the Montreal Canadiens play, is the NHL.

I'm not a sports fan so I can't be sure but I think American players are
fairly common on Canadian NHL teams.

As for NFL, Canada doesn't have any NFL teams although some of the people
playing in the CFL (Canadian Football League, the professional equivalent of
the American NFL), are indeed American. In fact, I remember watching the
Grey Cup Game when I was a kid - the CFL equivalent to the Superbowl - and
was surprised to find that there were awards for both Player of the Game and
Canadian Player of the Game. The year I watched it, I think the Player of
the Game was an up-and-coming American quarterback named Joe Theisman. My
vague recollection was that the Canadian Player of the Game was an award
they'd added a few years previously to soothe Canadians who were upset that
the Player of the Game always seemed to be an American. Like I said though,
I'm not a sports fan and this was a LONG time ago so I could be
misremembering/misinterpreting things.

A kid can take something too seriously on occasion - I think we've all been
there - but the two boys being that freaked out did seem a bit extreme to me
too.

Time will tell....

Definitely not one of the better episodes of the show....

I'd rather see Tawny Kitaen.

Or maybe not; I have no idea what she looks like these days.

Hah. When I first saw that actress's credit years ago, that's who I
looked for, yes, but they turned out to be two entirely different women.
Still, Miss Cypress, while not a sex kitaen, is attractive.

Its NHL team and why wouldn't a Canadian team have an American? There
are plenty of Americans on Canadian baseball teams. They will be
cheating themselves out of a huge talent pool.

And I would like all of NYPD to be like Jamie; unfortunately that his
not as plentiful in reality.

Detective Lansing's first name is Kate. Danny mentioned it when he
held the bouncer at the Vodoo church at gunpoint to search the place.

From the last scene with Det. Lansing, this isn't the last we have
heard of this plot.

Actually I think that scene had a inside message. Her character is
taking a leave of absence, the actress in real life took a leave of
absence. And the character expressed the feeling she had for Danny and
working there. I think that dialog applied to how the actress felt
about working with Donnie Wahlberg and the rest of the cast.

Yes, but listing regular and recurring characters in the credits even
if they don't appear in a particular episode seems to be SOP.

Anyway I think Det. Lansing is prettier. :-)

That's what they said, only I think it was probably supposed to be
traumatic brain injury, and they decided it took too long to explain
what that was. Didn't really look much like either, from what little
I know about it, more like Lennie in "Of Mice And Men".

I don't know what their intent was, but unless I missed it, I didn't see anyone commenting on Ken Howard's performance,
and I thought he was great. Didn't anyone else think he did a good job?

I thought he had a brain injury, but I missed the Alzheimer's diagnosis. Whatever, he still did a good job, IMO. :)

And no one with medical knowledge who actually examined the guy made the
diagnosis. It was Selleck at the the dinner table who said "Sounds like
Alzheimers", but he actually didn't have any real knowledge of what it
was. He'd never even met the guy. Could have been any number of things
besides Alzheimers, from a concussion to schizophrenia.

It appeared to be a criminal conspiracy. Surely the "lawyer" was in on it.

I seriously doubt that. Somebody guessed that at the dinner table, but
the point of the show was that no one (at least in New York) cared enough
to make sure had got a proper diagnosis and care.

As they emphasized he was a hockey player, I'll guess he's punch drunk,
the cumulative effect of lots of tiny concussions.

'Cuz that deprives a Canadian of a spot on the team? The United States is
where Canadians who can't make it at home go to play professional hockey.

If American teams had to field citizens instead of Canadians and Russians,
they'd never field any teams.

I can recognize dementia, which is a symptom and not a disease. I have
no idea how they distinguish among the various likely causes to make a
correct diagnosis. Also, can't someone in hypoglycemic shock have impaired
cognitive ability that might be mistaken for dementia?

Once upon a time, Alzheimer's was diagnosed at autopsy, but I guess they
can test for the protein markers these days.

Well, I've seen it done, and I don't have any more confidence in it than
sorting out chicken bones in the bottom of a teacup. Basically ask a
dozen questions, and then say 'they remember this sort of thing, but not
that sort of thing, so this is vascular dementia, not Alzheimer's"

Not as of a year ago, but we never got in to see the high muckety muck

Jamie did say with regard to brief periods of lucidity that the doctor
said it was exactly like that with the guy and didn't contradict his
father when he said that it sounded like Alzheimer's, so from that I
think it may have been Alzheimer's.

But Adam's concussion theory or as Adam indelicately put it too many
hockey pucks to tithe head. The character's hockey career started
during the era in which they didn't wear helmets, the mid to late
1960s (he retired in 1982) I would suppose sp all those blows to the
head could've later manifested itself?

I do wish they were more specific like thee doctor who seemingly not
giving two shits what happened to him on the street saying what he got
(he may not have been able to do anything but show some regret and
sadness Sheesh, talk about burn out).

I did think they were too freaaked over Erin's story. They are too old
