"What kind of dancing did you do?" Monk asks Sharona. "Ballroom," Sharona
replies, in a tone not-at-all convincing.
In a later episode, Monk's know-it-all nemisis, the evil, immobile
tycoon Dale the Whale, invites Sharona to work for him. "My nurse just
quit,'' Dale says leeringly, "and I know how you used to pay the bills back
in Miami."
Does anyone else think that Sharona may have had the kind of past that might
frighten an employer who's afraid of germs?

I don't think she was a prostitute. I think she was a stripper. And I don't
think Monk is naive.
I agree. If he wants to know, he'd figure it out.

I hope we get an episode about Sharona's past and how she hooked up with Monk

I heard they hooked up when they did a radio show together in
Washington. Or maybe I'm thinking of someone else.

I don't think he wants to know. Adrian Monk is emotionally dependent on
Sharona Fleming; in many ways, she is a surrogate mother to him. Just as
many people flinch at the thought of their parents having sex, Monk might
resist learning anything about Sharona that would disturb his image of
"Mommy." After all, this is a guy who couldn't handle the fact that his
beloved nurse had a date on "chicken pot pie night," tracked her down and
destroyed the budding relationship the instant he found a weakness in
Sharona's date.
I am still wondering what Sharona's reaction is going to be when/if
Monk develops an interest in another woman. If you've watched the USA
broadcasts, then you've seen at least two episodes where Sharona had
an interest in someone else (both doomed, of course...). But just as
Monk appears to have a dependency issue with Sharona, she appears, to me,
to have some issues of dependency on Monk as well (at times anyways) beyond
that of a 'nurse'.

Looks like we'll have a chance to find out next week...
BTW, isn't that Maria del Mar of "Street Legal" and "Blue Murder"
that we see him kissing in the promo?

Thats what I love about the show.

Oh, good, it's not just me who sees this.
Also, am I overprojecting the id, or does Sharona resemble Trudy?

Looking at Web photos of Bitty Schram (Sharona Fleming) and Stellina Rusich
(Trudy Anne Monk), I would agree that the casting director probably went out
of his/her way to match actresses of a mutually similar appearance. In which
case I applaud the effort. Most shows would hammer home the Freudian point
by having Bitty Schram play both roles.
