And then, of course, Mark Sunderlin (sund...@iia.org) wrote the other verse:
: Hercules, only the evil fear him
: Hercules, people feel safe when near him
: Fire in his eyes
: Iron in his thighs
: Victory is near
: Raise a mighty cheer

: "Olimpia"

I'll give it a try, from memory, and maybe someone who knows for sure will
come along and correct any mistakes:
Hercules, hero of song and story
Hercules, winner of fame and glory
Fighting for the the right
Fighting with all might
With the strength of ten
ordinary men...

tjis was a kick ass cartoon, does anyone know if it is still on, i'd be real
interested in watching, as soon as i get this song out my head!!
Music - Winston Sharples (of Fleischer Fame)
Hercules
Hero of song and story
Hercules
Winner of ancient glory
[something]
[something]
With the strength of ten
Ordinary men
Hercules
People feel safe when near him
Hercules
Only the evil fear him
Softness in his [?]
Fire in his eyes[?]
Virtue in his heart
Fire in every part
Of the Mighty Hercules

I remember a snippet, from near the end I think...
Hercules!
People are safe when near him
Hercules!
Only the evil fear him...
Something something eyes...
Iron in his thighs...
Something..something...
For the power of .... Hercules!

I used to know all the worse, and then some friends taught me their mean
little parody of it and now it's all I can remember:
Hercules
Made of cheese and baloney
Hercules
He's an ancient phoney
Fighting for his life
With a rubber knife
With the strength of ten
Fat and lazy men
It's the mighty, Hercules!
[Da da da da DA!]
Doesn't this thread also make you want to remember the lyrics to Rocket
Robin Hood? All I remember is the start:
Ten strong brothers marching together
Heads held high in all kinds of weather....
Great shows, both of them. I never liked Newt much, but Dedalus and
Wilhemine <sp?> were among my favourite cartoon villians as a child.
Pamela Giles
University of Saskatchewan
Fire in his eyes,
Iron in his thighs,
With the strength of ten
Ordinary men
Is the Mighty Hercules!

I do remember seeing in the credits that it was indeed Johnny Nash who
sang the theme song. Hercules was produced in the early 60s, since I
remember watching it when I was a child. I also saw in the credits that
the copyright was 1962, but I don't know when it stopped production.

I can help on this one:
Band of brothers
Marching together.
Heads held high
In all kinds of weather.
With fiery blasts,
Our roaring rockets rise.
Beyond the earth,
Beyond the skies.
My band of brothers
Take a stand,
With the gallant leader
Of our band.
Give a joyous shout
Throughout the land
For Rocket
Robin Hood!

: You made my day, by reprinting this!
: But I thought the 2 missing lines were:
: "With the strength of ten
: Ordinary Men"
: Well, those lines were in there somewhere... Maybe the closing lyrics
: were different than the opening (like Gilligan).
- yeah, there is another verse - it goes something like this:
Hercules, people have safe way near him
Hercules, only the evil fear him
.. and then theres some other stuff - the "with the strength of ten
ordinary men" comes somewhere before this verse
