You are in for a heck of a ride. Hopefully you somehow managed to avoid
all the massive spoilers out there. But even spoiled, it's going to be
good.

This on Peacock?
The theme for the day is a human partnering with an alien to survive.
So I watched:
Robinson Crusoe on Mars (blu-ray) 1964 sci-fi movie from the same guy
who directed "The War of the Worlds." This movie stars Paul Mantee as
an American astronaut on a survey mission to Mars with his commander
played by Adam West. Their ship has to divert course to avoid an
asteroid and Mantee finds himself marooned on Mars. He has to figure
out things like food, shelter, and oxygen on Mars. Along the way he
encounters an alien slave (Victor Lundin) whom he rescues and the two of
them work together to survive. I never noticed before, but Mantee's
character is real jerk in this movie. Just hateful towards Lundin's
character. During one particularly nasty scene I turned on the
commentary and Mantee himself was saying he didn't like what his
character was doing. He tried to get the director to change the script,
and the director was on board but the producers said no.
Enemy Mine (blu-ray) 1985 sci-fi movie staring Dennis Quaid as a fighter
pilot in the future who crash lands on an alien planet with an enemy
alien soldier (Louis Gossett Jr.) he was trying to shoot down. The two
of them must overcome their differences and learn to work together to
survive. The movie holds up very well. Coincidentally, I just read
yesterday that Louis Gossett Jr., who is 84 years old, is very sick with
COVID-19. Hopefully he recovers.
Alien Nation (EPIX) 1988 sci-fi movie set in the then present following
an alien slave ship crashing in LA. The aliens are integrated into
American society. James Caan stars as a human cop who partners with an
alien (Mandy Patinkin) to investigate the murder of Caan's previous
partner. This holds up well enough. And reminds me how much I miss the
old TV series.
District 9 (4K disc) 2009 sci-fi movie set in the then present following
an alien ship arriving in South African and becoming stranded. The ship
has a million workers on board who seem to have no real motivation to do
anything. Scientists determine they must be drones and the leadership
died off. They are brought down from the ship and placed in a ghetto
where they never really integrate into society, but society at large in
the neighboring areas get fed of with their nearby presence. The movie
kicks off with a human bureaucrat (Sharlto Copley) being sent in to get
the aliens to sign off on a forced relocation, but he stumbles upon an
alien who is a lot smarter than all the other drones he's used to
encountering. Sci-fi action and wackiness ensues. The movie holds up
very well. I'd love a sequel.
Paycheck (blu-ray) - Discussed in a different thread.
