The 30-year-old girlfriend of 70-year-old Max Baer, Jethro Bodine of
"The Beverly Hillbillies," died Sunday of a self-inflicted gunshot
wound in Lake Tahoe, Calif.
According to a sheriff's spokesman, Baer called 9-1-1 at 1:15 PM last
Thursday after discovering Chere Rhodes unconscious in a bedroom,
suffering from a gunshot wound. She apparently regained consciousness
and told deputies she was trying to kill herself. A handwritten
suicide note found at the scene confirmed that, cops said.
Rhodes was flown to Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno where she
was placed on life-support. Her condition did not improve and she died
Sunday after her family requested she be taken off life-support.
No foul play is suspected.
Little known facts -- Baer also dated the late Sharon Tate, and
Victoria Principal.

I just post the low end stories others don't. Sure it's not the latest
next-day ratings and television show development news others expect
from elitists here. It's just some tabloid stories and odds and ends
(Max at 70 having a 30yo gf is odd enough... but she killed herself
which makes it a little more odd). And if you don't like it, don't
read it. Simple as that.

To answer your question, no, no hole is being filled. It's getting the
word of celebrity news out there beyond the people who traffic
(specific) gossip websites for further discussion. Yes, the discussion
of myself sometimes side tracks my original intention, but that's the
way it is. I'll be a lightning rod if it gets at least one person to
say "hey, that was interesting". I'm surprised at some of the threads
I start that "catch fire" (the Sean Young drunk SAG heckling one comes
to mind). When I post stories from the world of Canadian broadcasting
industry in newsgroups, I get told "who cares?!" because it doesn't
impact the U.S. readers personally, which the rec.arts.tv newsgroup is
mostly targeted to. But, when people like Rich A. get thrashed for
saying "I can say what I want; we have something in America called
free speech", I remember that this a world-wide bulletin board and
perhaps a someone-- probably in Canada-- would like to know what a
Canadian broadcaster is doing [people on the IMDb also think their
message boards are U.S.-exclusive posters].
