Just finished watching “The Irishman” and thought it was quite good,
though as a metro Detroiter, I noticed they messed up the location of
the Machus Red Fox restaurant where Hoffa was last seen, with the
movie showing it on a two-lane semi-rural road when it was (the place
is still there, now as an Andiamo restaurant) actually on Telegraph Rd.
which is a major multi-lane boulevard. Also, there are no mountains
in Detroit (lol).

Those pesky mountains give away fake locations every time!

An odd choice of location, as it was just an artistic shot of them
driving to and from the Machus Red Fox that didn’t really have any
bearing on the story, further goofed up by having them drive over
an old steel girder bridge that also wouldn’t be anywhere in the
area (there being no river to cross).

The whole movie was filmed in NY state with whatever town
standing in for the Detroit ‘burbs but you’d think someone would
have at least checked out the historical locations to make sure
they got it right.

I’d also suggest they should have gotten a stand-in for DeNiro
in an early scene where he beats up a shop owner, as it was
embarrassingly obvious that DeNiro is a 70-something year old
man who isn’t capable of beating anyones ass nowadays.

I would have also used the time spent on Sheeran’s (DeNiro) angry
daughter (played by Anna Paquin) that didn’t add anything to the
movie and instead used it to expand on Chuckie O’Brian, Hoffa’s
adopted son (played by Jesse Plemons) whose involvement in
Hoffa’s kidnapping and murder would have come out of the blue
for viewers not familiar with the historical events, more so as the
only other scene he has in the flick is valiantly defending his
adopted dad from a loony attacker in a court room.
