These opinions are mine, not Apple's.
She was in a diabetic coma that she would drift in and out of, before
she died. Was anybody else as shocked about this as I was? I didn't
even know she was sick or anything. Turned the page in PEOPLE magazine
and there it was. That's sad.

Was Dana Hill the girl who played the daughter in Eurpoean Vacation
with Chevy Chase?
: I *think* I know who she is, but I wanted to update whoever was

Dana Hill is listed in National Lampoon's European Vacation (in reply
to another posting) and probably did play the daughter.
Recently, she has been in a rerun of Fall Guy as a small stuntperson
playing a child, but really over 21. This led to some comic spots.
I think she was in at least one more.
It is sad.
I believe she was also a guest star in an episode (maybe a two-parter) of
Magnum PI. Probably her most notable appearance was in Fallen Angel, a
made-for-TV movie with the durable and versatile Richard Masur as a
pedophilic coach. She was memorably good.
>It is sad.
It is indeed.

They say that actors play people other than themselves. No actor lived that
quote more than Dana Hill. Because of her short height, she was typecast as
moppets. (When she was old enough to drive, her vanity plate read "OVER
18.") In her later years, she voiced boys in cartoons like GOOF TROOP. The
only time I recall her playing a character close to herself was in the show
THE FALL GUY, in which she played a midget stuntwoman with diabetes.
Well, if you aren't sure who she is, she played Audrey Griswold in the 2nd and
3rd National Lampoon's Vacation movies. Coincidentally, European Vacation is
on CBS tonight at 9pm EDT (Sunday)
Fred
Dana portrayed Audrey in the second movie. Juliette Lewis played Audrey
in Christmas Vacation. I wonder who will portray Russ and Audrey in "Las Vegas
Vacation"?
Jim
Didn't she play the daughter in the National Lampoon Vacation movies?
one was just on tonight.
Yes, that was probably her best part, but I haven't seen tthose credits
in any of the articles on her. Why not? That's the one (besides
N.L.E.V) that I remember her for.

I seem to recall she was a regular on a sitcom for a couple of years.
This was before the 'vacation movies.

She played the daughter in a Peter Cooke series
where Cooke played a butler. It was in the
late 70s early 80s.
Tom
Yup, that's her. She played Audrey Griswold.
That would be "The Two of Us"

And can I raise a practical question (a la Derek Smalls)?: Why
does this post have attachment status, or is it just my
newsreader?
Now I *know* that programming executives at CBS are brain-dead.
Hellooooo?
Anyone home at CBS? Does the word "sensitivity" come to mind? How 'bout
the phrase "good timing"?

My source also lists "Sugar and Spice," which apparently bombed quickly in
1990.

Well, let's be fair--her the zenith of her career didn't exactly coincide
with the zenith of Usenet. I didn't have 'net access in the '80s, which
is when she would have been a likelier subject of discussion, so I don't
know how much chat about her there was. But that was also Usenet before
the big commercial services got on, so I'm not sure it's fair to compare
numbers anyway.
How many other actors and actresses who haven't had a significant role in
over six years and were capable but not headline material before that do
we discuss, anyway? Not many.

You might be thinking of Lisa Gerritsen, better known as Phyllis's
daughter, Bess, in The Mary Tyler Moore Show and Phyllis (and who has
seemingly disappeared from the radar since).
Dana Hill (who would have been a toddler when MWAWTI premiered in 1969)
lists only one live-action TV series among her credits -- "The Two of Us"
with Peter Cook and Mimi Kennedy.

Yep for that they preempted Due South! Figures, because last summer
CBS couldn't way to dump Due South to air a stale 3 year old never
seen mini-series with Christopher Reeve in it. CBS is all heart...
Yep CBS welcome home to the "family" network...

Oops, sorry about the mistake. I was thinking she played Audrey in both of
them. It's been awhile since I've seen Christmas Vacation.

With William Windom, I believe? It was a James Thurborish series.

No, I don't think that was Dana. It was the girl who played Phyllis
daughter on The Mary Tyler Moore Show. I can't think of her name right
now.
