Exclusive: Diane Farr's Numbers Up
Looks like Numbers will be minus its female star when it returns next
fall.
Sources confirm to me exclusively that Diane Farr has opted not to
renew her contract and will leave the CBS procedural later this
season. Farr joined Numbers in 2005, filling the void left by Sabrina
Lloyd. Prior to that, she spent two seasons lugging around heavy
equipment and making goo-goo eyes at Daniel Sunjata on FX's Rescue Me.
There's no word on how her character, G-woman Megan Reeves, will be
written out, or in which of this season's six remaining episodes she
will last appear. In what could be a clue, Megan's on-again/off-again
romance with Peter MacNicol's Larry is expected to heat up as the
season winds down. Perhaps they'll head off into the sunset together?
Producers, meanwhile, are already searching for Farr's replacement. On
Monday, Numbers began casting the role of Nikki Donati, a 27- to
35-year-old ex-LAPD officer who joins the FBI in search of a "bigger
and badder" challenge. She's described as a full-blown adrenaline
junkie whose gritty street perspective makes her a great foil for her
boss.
Now, help me out with this math problem: Farr – Numbers = What? A
sucky development? A fantastic opportunity to reenergize the show with
some new blood? The worst thing to happen to Peter MacNicol since the
final season of Ally McBeal? Crunch the Numbers and post the results
below!
I, for one, am definitely going to miss Diane! She brought a whole new
spark to the show after Sabrina Lloyd jumped ship before the end of Season
1.
I definitely liked her...better on Rescue Me and Dennis Leary's other "cop"
show before it. But I hardly felt she was carrying the show.
Drat! :-(

Perhaps to a co-ed monastery? :-)

I always thought Lloyd played a more credible FBI agent than Farr. I'm
glad to see her go. Maybe the her replacement will be a better fit for
the role.

Well, that's a major error right there. If the woman is former LAPD, the
last place she'd be assigned after Quantico is the Los Angeles Field
Office. The one thing you can count on as a rookie FBI agent is that
your first assignment will be anywhere other than the office from which
you applied to the Bureau.
And it's an error that could be easily corrected: just change her
backstory to a former NYPD cop or Miami cop or wherever.
**A sucky development!** She's one of the main reasons I've been
watching the show. Been following her TV shows ever since I first saw
her on "Loveline" (Loveline, The Job, Rescue Me, and NUMB3RS).

Harry Dresden: [re. Bianca] What is it about bad girls? They lie,
cheat, won't suck your blood even when you beg them to, and for some
reason, no matter how badly they treat us, we still can't walk away.

LORELAI: I am so done with plans. I am never, ever making one again.
It never works. I spend the day obsessing over why it didn't work
and what I could've done differently. I'm analyzing all my shortcomings
when all I really need to be doing is vowing to never, ever make a plan
ever again, which I'm doing now, having once again been the innocent
victim of my own stupid plans. God, I need some coffee.
You missed the best of the bunch, LOL. Check out "Roswell" on DVD if you
like sci-fi.
She wasn't carrying it, but I think she added something quite special
. . . not that I can explain exactly what I mean by that. Having said
that, though, I don't think "Megan" has been the same since Diane came
back from maternity leave. It's as if she lost her enthusiasm or
energy. Maybe it's just the writing, but Megan has turned into a
humdrum supporting player you hardly notice. The personality or spark
or whatever is gone.
I HATE the character type they're going with as Megan's replacement.
Maybe it'll be fine, who knows, but what I love about Numb3rs is that
it's a cop show without a bunch of gritty, adrenaline junkies who just
love to provoke usually-pointless conflict. Unless they're very
careful with casting, they're going to end up with a boring stereotype
instead of an interesting character.

Depends on if they start doing a better job staging the action scenes
they seem to feel obligated to include anyway.
As it is, you can pretty much count on the same scenario week after
week: the two action guys (the white one and the black one) do a piss-
poor job of approaching a subject, announcing themselves before
they're close enough to apprehend him and doing it in a wide open area
with many avenues of escape. Foot chase ensues.
Better if they'd just leave thse scenes out, but if they must be
included maybe this new character will let them integrate better in to
the scripts.
I don't remember her being on "Roswell", but then again, I didn't see
every episode. To me, "Roswell" has more or less the same flavor as
"Smallville" and just isn't my kind of show. Both were more "teen"
shows than I generally can stand.
