'House Hunters' on HGTV -- why are the people/couples *always* such assholes?

problems they see in all 3 houses and come off looking like snobby
assholes. Do they choose the people who appear on this show who act
this way, do they tell them to play up the faults, or am I being hyper-
sensitive here? It really bugs me. (Host) Suzanne Whang is okay,
though. Assholes.

And, I see it the opposite usually. Yes, they complain...and I'm sure it's
edited largely that way so you don't know what house they like the best, but
what drives me nuts is when they walk into a $400,000 house and say, "Oh, I
like the ceiling fan!" It happens all the time. Who cares about a $50
fixture, really? The other line I hear all the time is the woman ALWAYS
saying she'll take the big bedroom closet and the guy can put his stuff
elsewhere or something similar. Annoying. Plus, they often pick the wrong
house! LOL!

Who watches this show enough to get annoyed about anything? I can't
think of many programs that are a bigger waste of time. And Whang is
fine, except for that sideways head-moving thing she does.

I doubt it airs on BBC America, but 6 nights a week at 4AM (ET) on BBC
Canada, 'Escape To The Country' (BBC) is a very appealing British show
w/ a similar concept. A person/couple/family in the urban area of
London want exactly what the show title suggests. The show host/house
hunter gets a general idea of what is wanted from the buyer. The 3
houses are selected w/ the buyer still at home watches on a (Apple)
laptop as the tour of the houses is done. They select 2 house to
actually visit w/ the host. The 4th one can be a "Mystery House" and
can be chosen or excluded based on the 3 houses already shown. At the
end (at the 2nd house visited), the host asks the buyer to compare the
2 houses visited and asked if an offer wants to be put in. A voice-
over epilogue has the host tell us if any of the houses had an offer
made, or chose none and to continue the search. It's an hour show.

I watch most of the house hunter, design to sell, etc type shows, and I
don't see it as a problem, or even that prominent. After all, they are
making a huge purchase, so naturally you should point out all the stuff that
bugs you (and the stuff you like) so you can decide what you want. The
producers probably tell the couples to be chatty.
Of course the show is heavily edited, and the people probably see way more
than 3 houses. The way I figure it, they already know which one they want,
then they go shoot in some other loser houses, just so they have something
to show.
It does bug me when people whine about stuff that is super easy to change
like paint color in a room.

An offer never *wants* to be put in, but it will always go in if buyers
want to it to.
