JENNIFER LOVE HEWITT JOINS THE CAST OF "Criminal Minds"

Jennifer Love Hewitt has joined the cast of Criminal Minds as a series regular.

Her character will be introduced in the series' 10th season premiere, Wednesday, Oct. 1 (9:00-10:00 PM) on the CBS Television Network.

Hewitt will play Kate Callahan, a seasoned undercover agent whose stellar work at the FBI has landed her a coveted position with the Behavioral Analysis Unit.

Oh, I'm going to *have* to sample this, because this casting is so *off the wall*!! :o

Ian (It's an interesting choice - they didn't go "young" after getting burned on Rachel Nichols, and they stopped going "old" after Jeanne Tripplehorn didn't work either. So they "split the difference", and tried to go with a "new" Paget Brewster... We'll see if it works or not...)

I thought undercover agents were supposed to be nondescript? But she'll be a lot better than who she replaced.

Hard for me to believe too. Well, if she sees ghosts or has supposedly
psychic powers, that will be it for me and "Criminal Minds". :(

Will she be using her ability to see and talk to ghosts to solve the
crimes?

Actually, they say showing something obvious helps to make the rest
invisible. So if you put on a big nose, people will only remember the
nose. If you walk differently, people will remember the walk, not the rst
of the person.

So people will be looking at her breasts, and never notice anything else,
how more non-descript can you get?

in turn replaced the actress who was there in the early days.

She did stellar work, it doesn't have to be her undercover ability.

Maybe she was good at reading things, while being undercover, and the team
wants that ability to talk to ghosts.

Did you just referred to a kid as "hot"?

It's another example of the Playboy thing I talked about in the past.
The one where Old Me would see favorite old playmate shots from the
1980s and wonder if I should feel pervy looking at the young models,
even though I was their age then (and we were all legal) and they're my
age now. The fact that I feel weird enough about that should make it
come as no surprise that I'm in no hurry to add 14-year-olds to the
equation. :)

It was a great show. Timothy Busfield as a widower who moves to Hawaii, I
think because the mother had just died and it was too hard to live in the
old place.

The nice Hawaiian fellow teacher, Arlo Guthrie as an adult learner, and of
course, Hawaii.

I saw Arlo Guthrie in 1996, and he mentioned the show for some reason, and
I made some noise, and he said something like "and that's why the show is
no longer on", as if I was one of the few viewers.

She started at 10 or 11 on a kids' song and dance show, "Kids
Incorporated." Billed as "Love Hewitt."

Remarkably successful career for someone coming up that route.

It's too soon for them. Hewitt was on Kids Incorporated the year before
either of them was born, and Milano had been acting professionally for
almost a decade.

They all started their careers in their teens, though. But it's still
too early to tell whether the newcomers will have the same staying power.

The real "grande dame" of child actresses doing well is Drew Barrymore,
and she managed to do it despite having a very reckless period in her
teens.

Probably no worse than previous Barrymores, IIRC. But that name, the
family traditions, and the genes, must have been a big help.

And yet, other than we know she's a Barrymore, I don't remember that being

her last name.

INterestingly, I was in a bookstore yesterday and there's a one-shot
magazine there about child stars. "Whatever became of..." and lots of
people mentioned. I already forget who, but someone else that turned out
to have a decent career started out on "Kids Incorporated".

But Drew was 7 years old when ET was released, and kept getting roles. She
seemed to stumble for a while, but nobody thinks of her now as a "kid
actor". So many don't make the transition to being an older actor.

Besides, when she was in "ET", it was a big entrance. Everyone remembers
her from that, while unless someone was on a popular tv show as a child,
they may not be remembered for their first role.

Ron Howard may take the cake on the male side. He was six when he started
with The Andy Griffith Show, and pretty much has stayed working ever
since. Happy Days was a success, when many don't get a second successful
tv show, and then he "disappeared" behind the camera, making endless
movies that have been very successful.

It was Fergie I noticed. I was surprised, I'd never heard of anything

come from somewhere, not that I knew about them at the time. All those
Disney stars (and I'm talking long after Kurt Russell).

You wouldn't, that's the whole point of those kinds of connections.
They operate behind the scenes and out of sight. You can't have the
people you just fucked over knowing it was because the guy you worked

Yes, Ron has been amazingly successful behind the camera. I doubt
anyone would have guessed that as many actors move behind the camera
as they age but have only modest success.

It's a natural progression in the industry. The catch is that there are
a lot fewer directors than actors, so not every actor can take that
path. Not every reporter gets to be managing editor. Not every Senator
gets to be president.

The other actors, of course, can become producers or agents or
something, or just invest their money in California real estate and
retire. I suspect the ones who become successful directors have always
had that interest and pursued it dilligently. That fits what I've heard
about Ron Howard.
