The only thing that keeps me watching is the Red hed, she's a hoot. They
have Teri Hatcher doing the same thing in every episode now.

It's not going to take a whole season. The mystery is supposed to be
revealed by the sixth episode. But if you can't wait there's about a
million spoilers online.

point of the show.

Are you counting the 20 million viewers who watched all 4 episodes as
80 million+ unique viewers? How very FOX-like.
--- Okay, maybe I'll stick it out for at least that long. But with the
mystery out of the way, where can they go from there?

--- Seeing only the outward appearance is fine, but you have to at
least have a sense that there's something just beneath the surface,
without having to dig for it, that gives the character a certain edge
or unexpectedness in the making. None of that is apparent with any of
the characters, all they do is just uniformly act in bubble gum-like
fashion. Something's got to pop, but no one's blowing any bubbles in
the gum. And why does that nosey neighbour always keep reminding me of
Mrs. Kravitz in "Bewitched?"

--- No, I was slightly exaggerating the figure for a typical episode.
It's a soap, it's supposed to go slow.
And who cares where they go next? Why worry about it? Just watch as
whatever happens next unfolds.
--
Ryan
> whatever happens next unfolds.
--- I hate soap, it rubs my eyes, and brain, the wrong way. And I don't
watch shows just for the sake of watching where they go. I have to
=feel= the show for me to be able to watch it. With "DH," I'm just not
feeling it right now.
Daytime soap, yes. Night time soap, no.
The only reason to watch DH is Marcia Cross. Everything else about the show
has been repetitive and has not lived up to expectation. The other 3
storylines aren't really trending up either.
They could have set up another angle with a feud between the nosy neighbor
and Hatcher and seems to have dropped that.
As for the mystery... does it matter? They have done nothing to make me care
about it.
And yeah, the narration needs to be wittier and more insightful. If they
can't do that, drop it because it's insulting.
>The other 3
>storylines aren't really trending up either.
What does that mean, "trending up"?
--- Hey, there's an idea! I just might do that. But I did like the
pilot for "Desperate Housewives," giving it my highest rating, 8 out of
10. Now, I know it's not me that changed along the way in the last 4
weeks, so obviously it's something about the show that's changed from
the pilot, or something that's just not working in a way or direction
that the pilot suggested it would work. It's just become a flat,
silly, drawn-out affair that's not capitalizing on the potential it had
to be smarter and shiftier as seen and felt in the pilot. I guess
that's to be expected in the dumbed-down times we live in.
Steven Blue was right. It only has gotten better as the weeks have gone by.
>Dude there is no shows that you like on television.
Doesn't he like "Lost"?
He's far from the only one who doesn't care about Desperate Housewives. The
show would have potential if they eliminated a few characters and stopped
treating the audience like they are mentally handicapped children. The stories
are beyond repetitive and the performances are cartoonish. I still can't figure
out why the Teri Hatcher or Eva Longoria characters are on the show, and the
Felicity Huffman character has become increasingly isolated and irrelevant.
Marcia Cross is carrying the whole fucking show.

Edie: conniving slut. No change.
Van de Camp boys: interchangeable Dennis menaces. No change.
Carlos: work-driven hot-tempered suspicious Latino husband. No change.
Mrs. Huber: Gladys Kravitz after Abner passes away. Some change, finally.
I'm already seeing repetitions of plot devices. How many neigbors and
third parties are blackmailing the principals or being bribed by them?
How many times will Julie play the parent to her mom? How many sons are
rebelling against their parents? What's the next rabbit that Gabby will
pull out of a hat to keep a step ahead of Carlos' suspicions?
I like the way Susan's character is establishing herself, but I'm
concerned her clashes with Edie over Mike may turn into continual
episodes of datus interruptus.

for an illusion or semblance of it. And you're right, I don't like
"Lost" either. Another show that just interminably drags things out.
I mean, they haven't even built their huts yet, which is the first
thing people would do, I would think. At least you saw that right away
in the first episode of "Gilligan's Island." Ahh, now there was real
entertainment and not an illusion or semblance of it.
Why don't you just say improving then, if improving is what you mean?

I can't say about the Teri Hatcher character, but the Eva Longoria character is
on the show so we get to see Jesse Metcalfe as naked/shirtless as possible.
(Did I really have to explain that to a homosexual like you, Barber?)

Its only been close to a week for the show. People are still in shock from
the crash. And plus they had the shelter from the planes wreckage to.

Her name's Marcia Cross and she makes one hot red-headed mama! If you
like her on this show, you should get a hold of Melrose Place!!
Her delivery is so smug. And she never strays from that. It's grating.

Can't agree more! I found it repetitive starting in the second episode
and things still haven't changed.
- Lynette has trouble with her boys - the most repetitive and boring.
- Gabrielle tries to hide her affair - some entertaining variety there.
- Susan's plans with Mike get thwarted by Edie - kinda like Wiley Coyote
always being one step behind the Road Runner... beep beep!
Bree on the other hand it just hilarious. Thanks Marcia!!! You Rock!!!

Yup, that's what I screamed last week!! But I'm biased of course.
I can only remember WQ liking "Thieves", for some reason.

It would be nice to know who you're talking about.

Controls the Universe," "The Ellen Show," "The Norm Show," "Some of My
Best Friends," "Deadline," "Miracles," "Mister Sterling," along with
early episodes of "Will & Grace," "Less Than Perfect," "Nikki," "CSI,"
"The Education of Max Bickford," "Las Vegas," selected episodes of
"Seven Days," "Popular," and, of course, cable stuff like "Sex and the
City," "MI5," "Monk," "Nip/Tuck," selected episodes of "The Sopranos,"
"Curb Your Enthusiasm," "The Dead Zone," even a pair of reality shows,
the first "Simple Life" and "My Big Fat Obnoxious Fiance." Maybe a few
others I can't remember, but all those in just the last six years. So
there's stuff I like, it's just that compared to how much is put out
each year, it's very few and far between, and most don't last very
long. It's a conspiracy, I tell you - it's a conspiracy.

If that's the only reason she's on the show, then write her out. Metcalfe looks
like he just turned 13. Her husband is much sexier , too bad he's been written
into a corner.

He did. You just didn't get it.
bitch, bitch, bitch! You're just pissed that ABC hasn't fallen off the earth
like you previously predicted :)))

She changed into those shorts to wash the car. That was a
pretty good change.
Wow. Lazy much? Read the posts. We're talking about the omniscient
narrator, Mary Alice.
HER HUSBAND SEXIER THAN JESSE METCALFE? Hand in your queer card, Mary.
Which was perfectly evident from your post, Jule. Perfectly evident.
The Norm Show? Why? (Actually, was it Nikki Cox? Cause that
seems to be the common thread between this one, Nikki, and Las Vegas...)
I never got into most of the rest of these. Full agreement on Andy
Richter Controls the Universe, though.

Note to self: use only words in Farrell22's vocabulary.
I don't care much whether he likes it or not or whether he's in the
minority or not.*
I wish the discourse on TV could remain a constructive vien and avoid
pompous comments like:
" Although, I'm quite ecstatic for every one of the 87 million people
who are enjoying it. But you'll all come to your senses sooner or
later."
You don't like it anymore, good for you for expressing your opinion.
But is it really necessary to call people who feel otherwise
"senseless?"
Is it necessary to turn a critique of a show into a crusade?
What if we all don't "come to our senses?" What if we all continue to
enjoy all 22 episodes? Good lord, could it be possible that YOU then
are the one who is senseless?
Or is it possible we're both right? That for some people it's
enjoyable and entertaining way to spend an hour and for others it's
not?
Scott
*Although it does seem important to him that he not remain a minority
opinion, hence his condescension to other's viewpoint.
And Teri Hatcher leads to naked Teri Hatcher and naked James Denton
and presumably naked Nicolette Sheridan. So everyone's happy!
I don't mind seeing scenes of Gabrielle and Susan in various modes of
undress, but their characters have to develop nonetheless. Otherwise
I'll just be seeing the same plot gimmicks over and over.
I liked the bit with Carlos and the cable guy, though.

I agree.
But I'm posting to comment on your comparison of Gabrielle/Carlos to
RoadRunner/Wile E. Coyote -- nice analogy, though I was thinking more of
Major Nelson/Dr. Bellows. Actually, this kind of shtick's been done
countless times in the past.

Nice turn of phrase, by the way.

It's funny but everyone I've talked to refers to that lady as Mrs.
Kravitz instead of Mrs. Huber. I suppose it's a testament to Sandra
Gould (who wasn't even the original Mrs. K).
I said posts. Plural. It's possible to trace back what was being
talked about, but you chose instead to snark.
