Reply from the OFT re: Carlton/Granada merger

Should the merger go ahead it will be notified to the Director General of
Fair Trading, who will advise the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry
as to whther the merger should be referred to the Competition Commission for
further consideration. If he makes such a recommendation it will be on
competition grounds.
Once a merger notification is recieved the OFT issues an invitation to
comment for third party views on the imapct of the merger on competition.
Your comments will feed in to this process. If you wish to comment further
at that time the invitation to comment, which will appear on the OFT
website - www.oft.gov.uk, please do so.
