I've surfed the BBC web pages, but found no info other than program
scheduling for this channel (?).

Any one out there know anything about it??

Cheers

BBC Prime is a satellite channel broadcast to Europe. It seems to be
a UK Gold sort of channel. It was called BBC Worldservice Tv for Europe
and before that it was just BBC Europe (I think). The Worldservice channel
was the best as it showed programmes that were airing at the same time
in Britain.

The only problem is, it can only show programmes made by the BBC. So
no neighbours when you go off on holiday to Spain.....

Yes. It is SHITE, that's what it is. At the end of January BBC
World Service Television for Europe split into 2 parts. The world
service News is rolling news plus information programs like
Tomorrow's World and Panorama etc. These are transmitted before
they get too old.

BBC Prime is the "drama and comedy" part. It uses programs that are
EXTREMELY old (like the first series of All Creatures Great and
Small, and the first series of Bread). It replaced runs of NEW
series with the old stuff (for example, World Service television
was showing the 3rd series of Bottom: then BBC Prime took over and
showed the FIRST series of Bottom), and thereby alienated 90 per
cent of its viewers.

To give you some idea, BBC World Service Television for Europe
showed 4 of the second series of Joking Apart. Then BBC Prime took
over, and the last 2 episodes were never shown! BASTARDS.

It has about 28 hours of programs per week and keeps repeating them,
so if you missed a program, tune in 4 hours later on the next day,
and there it is again!

If I were paying seperately for it (instead of getting it as part of
a cable package) I would cancel it. IT IS CRAP.

That's a blatant lie. Entertaining is exactly what this channel does NOT do.

What you have described is BBC Select.

BBC Prime is a satellite subscription entertainment channel, currently

for Europe excluding the UK as part of the BBC's venture with Pearson.

It carries programmes from BBC1/2, plus a lot of the sort of stuff that
turns up on UK Gold.
