The stupidest, craziest, dumbest, thickest, saddest, most
pathetic, idiotic thing you've seen in ages, is more than likely
a protest against the very ITV executives you'd like to thrust
your euphemism up.

Crossroads was given a final chance with a second series and
when, just a few months later, ITV said it was going to be axed,
the cast and crew protested vehemently because (bad as it was)
they said it hadn't been given a chance to prove itself.

The wackiest situations which followed (the Strictly Ballroom
sequences that arrived with Lionel Blair, the girl from Dawsons
wanting to "watch Dawsons reruns", etc.) seemed like a
bleedingly obvious two-finger salute to those upstairs. And why
not? They had a few months of terminal airtime to seriously
take the piss with and it's nice to see they're topping it off
with the biggest joke of all. I say bravo Crossroads! It
became hysterically funny to watch because it stopped trying to
be a 'serious drama', which so many soaps are guilty of (and
failing at) thesedays.

My only grievance is that Dr Drake Remore (Joey Tribiani's 'Days
of Our Lives' character) didn't turn up at some point. He
would've fitted in beautifully.

I'm guessing he was beyond the Crossroad's budget. ;)

That's quite fitting in a way, judging by some of the lamentable acting it's not
hard to believe it was all a chronic nightmare, no doubt the executives also
like this plan, it allows them to turn the terrible mistake that was Crossroads
into a figment of their imagination, something that never happened, la dee darr.

It's an opportunity lost. They could've thought up something far worse than
that... I'd have had the whole cast dying of ebola, then have the motel
disintegrate in an earthquake, all done with a budget of nothing.

Now, that would have been memorable television!

Let's have the Crossroads motel disappear a la the house in Poltergeist.

Eva Cassidy did not change my life but she sure as hell blew my

There's an equally bizarre development in EE - Dirty Den is coming
back - even though everyone thought he'd been dead for years.
Stretching credibility a little. Still, it should be fun. Hwyel
Bennett is in it now and is hilarious. :-)

Oh dear. But would you still adore Eva Cassidy if she hadn't had
snuffed it?

Her version of 'Over the Rainbow' is abysmal. Why certain people
claim that it is the definitive version is beyond me. Only one
version of that worth listening to - end of story! :-)

Give me Beth Orton any day.

Question is - apparently it's only the latest 'series' of Crossroads that's
existed in Jane Asher's head, but not the rest of it. How do they explain that
away?

Oh no... I don't watch it (did watch some of the original series though).
But I'm just making a point at how diabolical ITV has become now, that they
have to resort to this kind of non-sensical unbelivableness.
Programs on ITV are so bad now that even a 2 month old baby would be hard
pressed to create worse... lol.
The ITV executives are some of the most corrupt people in the world,
polluting and infecting the minds of the future generation (Popstars, Pop
Idol, Kids Stars in their Eyes [a complete charaduous exploitation of young
people]) - trying to make them dress the way their 'heroes' dress, buy the
same things their 'heroes' have, and generally promote their own filthy and
corrupt brand of religion (ie: petty materialism).
Just look at the seemingly-non-ending crap that was "I'm a celebrity, I'm so
dumb an amoeba has more brain cells..." - those viewing 'figures' were pure
lies.

ITV is supposed to be INDEPENDENT TeleVision - yet Carlton and Granada
virtually control the whole network, putting the cheapest, most boring
programs on.
How can they be allowed to merge, after the disastrous quandary that was
ITV/On Digital - millions of pounds defrauded out of Digital Terrestrial
subscribers.

I don't want to go over my original Close Down ITV rant again - you can find
it in Google Groups under "devolution/uk.tech.digital-tv/Close down ITV" if
you want to read the whole story. But I just want to timely point out how
bad ITV has become - even Ch5 was rated better last year. People need to
stand up to these corrupt crooks and demand better quality Television. For
once, Mr Murdoch seems like a saviour compared to ITV.
