Wasn't it Ringo Starr? And has anybody noticed it got reviewed in a
recent, can't remember which, issue of Wired.
Graham
I thought Ringo narrated "Thomas the Tank Engine", which was completely
separate from "Ivor the Engine".

Was it Peter Firmin? If so, did he also do the Clangers,
and maybe Bagpuss?
Matt, being sad...

Wasn't that Oliver Postgate ?
Has anybody seen an early animation of Oliver Postgate's ? He must have made
it at the start of his career before his great classics. It was about a family
- mum, dad, daughter and dog. The father leaves, a new man arrives who the dog
dislikes, the father returns and the new man leaves. It was on the box about
two years ago, and seemed to be a rather personal story.

Wasn't Ringo narrator of Thomas the Tank Engine. Wasn't the narrator of
Ivor the Engine the same as the one for Noggin the Nog ? Can't remember
his name though.

Ringo did the "Thomas the Tank Engine" stories - the production of which
on television is positively eons after Ivor the Engine hit the rails. Ivor
was doing his thing in the early '60s. I'm almost positive it was Oliver
Postgate - who, if I recall, also did several others of a similar production
style ("Noggin the Nog", anybody?) and, of course, he narrated the Clangers.

The credits on my Ivor the Engine video are:
Story by Oliver Postgate
Music by Vernon Elliot
Told by Owen Griffiths, Anthony Jackson and Oliver Postgate.
I think it is Oliver Postgate you were referring to
A similar team produced another classic, Noggin the Nog.
