Yes, she left in episode two of the current (fifth) season. I think it was
simply that she was getting bored with the role, having done as much as she
could with the character. She spoke about it on Radio 4's Woman's Hour a
couple of weeks ago, and said that they couldn't progress any further with
the Lovejoy-Jane relationship without destroying the series - you couldn't
have them teasing each other forever.

Incidentally, it was bizarre to hear her speaking with her own accent -- a
lovely soft Scottish voice. She's currently doing stage-work (I forget the
exact details, but she's playing an American), and doesn't rule out returning
to Lovejoy for the odd guest appearance.
