I was just wondering what the little old French man said in that episode in
the first series. What exactly does he say at the very end of the episode when
he is talking to Bubble and Patsy. Bubble translates it to be something
along the lines of why were they staying in the cottage and he hoped they
enjoyed their holiday. It seemed as if he was being sarcastic. Can any French
speakers translate please.

The old man asks Patsy, "What are you doing here?" (He means, of course,
why was she at the cottage.) He explains that the staff were awaiting them
(Pats and Edina) at the chateau a half mile up the road. When she says
nothing he says, "I hope you have a pleasant stay." The ritual is
repeated a few times until Bubble, of all people, figures it all out as
the foursome prepares to rush home and salvage Edina's interior design
career. The funny part IMHO was when the confused Patsy handed over most
of her money and the old Frenchman, sensing her confusion and tourist
status, reached into her hand and took the rest of her bankroll whilst
simultaneously telling her he hopes she has a pleasant stay.

Not being a terrifically wonderful French speaker, I'd have to go back and sit
there and listen to it a bunch of times again...but he WAS asking them,
essentially, "What are you doing here?" when he kept coming to their door.
