Does anyone know where "A Touch of Frost" is filmed? I gather it's somewhere
in Yorkshire, but I wondered which town specifically.

I keep on seeing vaguely familiar areas but can't pin it down.

Grateful for any info.

I think Leeds and Wakefield, the railway station used is certainly
Wakefield.

Many thanks, Mike. That would explain it - I was on a study tour up that
part of the world more years ago than I care to remember, and we spent some
time in Wakefield.

Best wishes, Mike

I can fill in some of the locations.

The railway station is indeed Wakefield Westgate. Which, coincidentelly
is where I was on my way home from (and had been talking to a friend
about the likelihood of us seeing them film there) when I came across
them filming the bank robbery scene from the Christmas special in
Providence St. (also Wakefield). We drove past 4 times to see what was
going on, and parked up next to where the fake police cars were being
kept...

The scene in a previous series where a woman commits suicide by jumping
off a multi-storey car park is also in Wakefield, about 200 yards away,
at the corner of Rishworth Street and Wood Street (the real police
station is just down the side of the building). The building Frost lives
in temporarily is indeed part of the West Yorks Police Headquarters,
also about 100 yards from that location. For those into trivia (and if
you arent , why are you reading this) the building in one of the
Beiderbecke trilogy where Trevor Chaplin drives around half a dozen
times is the old County Hall on the opposite side of the road, just
behind the camera.

In the programme where a small boy goes missing presumed abducted, he is
shown outside the now defunct ABC Cinema down Kirkgate opposite the
entrance to the Ridings shopping centre. A few minutes later on the
programme when Frost is called to view a body, that scene was filmed at
the side of the indoor market. Also filmed near the market was a scene
where frost is eating in a curry house and is called outside to a
disturbance outside a pub.

In (I think) Series 3, the police station internal shots were filmed in
a recently vacated police station in east Leeds (the name of which I
forget - Gipton maybe) and the door nameplates, framed photos on the
wall, a lot of the furniture, and Frost's identity card are 100%
identical to those used by West Yorkshire Police and would, I imagine,
use the police facilities. The radios are all stripped out ex-police
units too.

I forget which series, but in one scene Frost chases someone through a
shopping centre, which is the Lanes shopping centre in nearby
Castleford. Some scenes for the Christmas special were also filmed in
the Leeds ring road to the east of the city and they have been filming
near there and Headingly for the up-coming programmes.

As you can probably tell, I live near Wakefield and have a relative who
works for the police (and coincidentally looks not unlike Jack Frost).
If I remember any more places I'll post em...

In the one where a body was washed ashore (or was it just a leg? I
forget) the scene of the place where the body (or leg) came ashore was
just underneath the southern end of the Humber Bridge.

Thank you for that: I wondered where that town hall was. There's a
barely-visible road-name sign which reads "Bond Street" (probably). I
checked my Leeds A-Z and could only find the one in Leeds. I should have
checked Wakefield as well. Any idea where other Beiderbecke locations were:

- Trevor Chaplin's flat
- Jill's "executive pixie" house ("Affair")
- Jill's second house ("Tapes" and "Connection")
- Big Al's allotment
- (Lord) Sergeant Hobson BA's police station
- St Matthew's church

I'm glad I got the suicide-from-the-car-park location right for Frost:
having not lived in Wakefield for 20 years, I still recognised it - near
Woods Music Shop and Eagle Press, isn't it? Wakefiled Westgate was instantly
recognisable.

Othe Frost locations:

- the Catholic church (terracotta brick) in Harehills, Leeds
- the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway (episode where body was discovered
in [Mythplmes] tunnel, wrapped in a blanket)

Yes, Bond street does run down the side there. The view you see from the
office there is indeed from a building in Leeds. Clever eh. Nearly as
clever as when, in Edge of Darkness, Bob Peck's character runs into the
old Systime computers building on the Leeds ring road, and runs out in
the Barbican centre in London!

Somewhere up Headingley I think, the architecture looks about right.

Hmm. I did work this one out but forget exactly where... Elland Rd
Footie ground is visible from it though.

Leeds Central / Milgarth I think.

The Crypt scenes were shot at St.Peters church in Stanley just outside
Wakefield.

Yup, correct, about 50 yards up the road from there.

Mike.
