Does anyone remember who it was who banged the gong in the original
Take Your Pick?
I think it was Micheal Miles who presented it,Bob Danvers-Walker was
the 'voice' and I have a mental picture of a small bald chap who came
on with the gong for the yes/no interval ,but who was he?

Its just one of those questions that came up in the pub ,but I would
dearly like to know!

Yes Michael Miles Yes Bob D-W

I believe his name was along the lines of Alec Dane...

My overriding memory of TYP is that the announcement of JFKs death came
at the end of the proggy on that November Friday night in 1963.... Sad
old git eh?

... except in the Granada region, who were showing a regional news
programme in the slot, and was earlier than ITN by 20 minutes.

Strange, I was viewing in the Granada region - but in Yorkshire. I remember
"People and Places" with Bill Grundy (xmitted from Manchester) but was not
aware on any OTHER local regional news programmes in the Granada region in
1963. Anyone know otherwise.... :-).

PS I'm fairly certain that Take Your Pick was a Rediffusion programme
NETWORKED. It got huge ratings (don't tell Hughie Green) and was a Friday
night institution. I'm not convinced that you were switched to ITV at that
point in Nov 1963...
