During BBC-2 "Star Trek" night on Bank Holiday Monday, there will be 15
minute programme at 9 PM devoted to spoofs of the series. Included will be
one minute from my 1988 parody "Star Trek: The Pepsi Generation." Watch for
a Patrick Stewart imitator (Michael Santo) attempting to do the "Space...the
final frontier" speech.

Copies of the complete movie are available from me in NTSC or in PAL from my
UK agent. E-mail me for details or check out my homepage.

I was surprised that Radio 4 did not join in by running an episode of
Star Terk 3 on Monday - I can never take Star Trek seriously after
hearing any tapes of that series.

Didn't occur to me at the time (I was too busy trying to avoid Leonard
Nimoy's ill-advised foray into the music business), but now you mention
it, there does seem to be something of a missed opportunity there.

Bit patchy, I thought, and it was rather formulaic, which kind of got a
bit wearing after a while, but it was quite fun to listen to every now and
again.

How could they show the whole of Bilbo Baggins and then cut off Star Trekking
after only one verse? :-)

I know, what a funny video that was, especially Spock's mouth!

Did Star Trekkin make it into the US charts?

It was brilliant - but I didn't even know there _was_ a video until Star
Trek Night so it was a bit of a shame that they only showed half a minute
of it.

No idea. :-)

One does have to ask how on earth BBC2 managed to dig up your movie, and how
they got away with it as well! It's one thing showing it in conventions, it's
another showing it on a national broadcast television network on a night
dedicated to programming produced by Paramount...

Either way, congratulations! Nice one! Far better than that Takeover TV crap...

What the BBC told me is they had a sort of "blanket" permission from
Paramount to use clips from the series, etc. What concerned me was the
music that was heard during my brief segment. However, I know the guys who
produced the album it came from and they won't tell if I don't. Besides,
this is clearly a parody and covered by laws that exempt it from copyright
violation. By the way, the BBC "dug up my movie" because I sent it to them!
In fact, they had already heard of it and were quite enthusiastic when I
first contacted them about it.
