Unfortunately, Ray Smith died a couple of years ago - just after putting
in the performance of his life in the BBC adaptation of Kingsley Amis's
'The Old Devils'. He must rate as one of the most underrated Brit actors
of recent years - I'd be interested if anyone could tell me of any other
programmes in which he acted.

Yes, that's right. He was rather wasted in D&M, unfortunately - an
over-the-top version of The Professionals' George Cowley!!
Apparently Barber & Brandon got on really well together when they were
filming D&M and started living together. I believe they are still
together and now living in the US.
Tony Osoba makes occasional appearances on TV, but nothing very
high-profile, though he did star in a few eps of Coronation St about
seven years ago.

I thought they'd got married.
The last thing I remember seeing Glynis Barber in was one of those
Miss Marple jobs a few years back... and didn't Michael Brandon do
some sort of action hero drama for ITV that never got anywhere?

Am I correct in thinking Ray Davies' son is in a Welsh GLam Rock Band ?
I could be wrong.

I can't help there, but am I the only one to think that Granada Plus
has something of a surfeit of Dempsey & Makepeace at the moment?
I was looking forward to seeing it again after all these years, but
*five* episodes a week is a bit too much.
As it's probably the only thing worth watching on Granada Plus, you'd
think they'd string it out for as long as possible. An episode every
Sunday evening would be nice.
Mind you, they're using the original captions to lead into and out of
the commercial breaks, and there are only two breaks per episode, in
the right places too; very rare indeed for a sat channel. Now, if
they'd just get rid of that on-screen logo.....
Any "D&M" experts out there know whether they'll be showing all the
episodes, and whether any have been/will be cut for violence?

Well it's actually on *every* day, isn't it? And three times a day -
therefore something like 21 times a week!! And then two thirds of them
are repeats!!!!!

I agree - once a week is enough.

Well as I don't have satellite yet (but will have by the end of the
week) I don't know for certain - but I imagine it IS edited down. Not
necessarily for violence, but simply so GSB can get more adverts in -
this is what they will be doing when they screen The Professionals from
next month :-(

Well, they (the two leads that is, Glynis B. and Michael L.) were both on
Richard and Judy this morning...
Ben (who doesn't like admitting that he actually watched Richard and
Judy this morning...)

That's the one :)
Just wanted to ask if you are the David Mathews who worked on D&M and
for ITV?
