Another great episode IMHO with just the right balance between drama and
humour, even a nice tender/heartwarming scene between Seth and Emma Cairns.
EMMERDALE - KATHY'S HOUSE
It is early morning. Eric is banging on Kathy's door. Betty, who lives next
door, and Viv, who is next house along, both emerge half dressed to watch
the action. Pollard spits at Viv - "Why don't you go inside and polish your
Parent Of The Year Award", while Betty is told to keep her beak out of his
business.
Kathy refuses to let Pollard in to see Dee.
CAIRNS
30-second scene with Becky looking depressed. She still hasn't explained to
Emma what is really going on.
KATHY'S HOUSE
Kathy tries to persuade Dee to talk to Eric. Dee has booked a one-way ticket
home. She asks Kathy to get her passport and clothes from the Wine Bar flat.
VET'S
Betty manages to upset Zoe by criticising Becky. Zoe tells her not to bother
cleaning today, but that she will still get paid (little smile from Betty).
POST OFFICE
Viv tells Will about Pollard's behaviour in the street, and that Dee is
staying at Kathy's (while trying to pump Will for extra gossip; she's
unlucky).
WOOLPACK
Betty tries to tell Alan & thingy (rugby player? Can't remember the name)
about Pollard etc, but she is challenged by both of them and branded a
gossip! She quits the cleaning job in disgust!!
TEA ROOMS
Marriage guidance from a halfwit. Sam tries to cheer up Eric without
success. Kathy arrives and he calls her "Judas", then, when she asks Eric to
talk to Dee, he refuses....
Kathy persuades Betty to create a diversion so that she can get up to the
flat and find Dee's passport etc.
KATHY'S
Dee tells Will that shew is leaving. Cue waterworks.
TEA ROOMS KITCHEN
Cue waterworks. Eric is attempting to "fix" a "broken" U-Bend. Sam knows how
to find the leak.... Pollard emerges covered in last night's washing up
gunge and takes a lunge at Sam - who says if he touches him he'll go down
for 30 years.... Pollard backs off (some old plotline I don't know about?)
Just as he's about to go upstairs to change, Kathy comes back in to give the
all-clear.
HOME FARM STABLES
Seth persuades Emma to try talking to her mother over a nice cup of tea.
KATHY'S
Will wants to go to Singapore, but she tells Will no, she doesn't need
looking after, she's not a helpless little girl, "which is how you treat
me". Kathy enters the room just as they begin to kiss. Before she leaves,
she gives Will a gold neclace... her final words "I think I could have loved
you, but it wouldn't be right".
TEA ROOMS
Pollard realises Dee has really left him, he races 'round to Kathy's, Sam
following on as always
STREET
Dee is in the taxi. She hands her wedding ring to Kathy and tells her to
give them to Eric. The taxi leaves and Eric sees it go. COMMERCIALS
STREET
Kathy feels sorry for Pollard and tells him that her plane to London
en-route to the Far East goes within the hour from Leeds-Bradford
Airport.... Sam : "Can I come Mr Pollard, I like planes!"
COUNTRY LANES intercurt with AIRPORT
Pollard races to the Airport, in tears, while Dee prepares to board the
plane...
SUGDENS
Helen Ackroyd arrives and persuades Ned Glover to talk to her, she wants to
investigate the Tate family, and thinks that the Glover family's misfortunes
could help her "nail them this time". Ned is not convinced, but later they
share a drink and he takes her business card...
AIRPORT
Eric races through the airport to find Dee....
TEA ROOMS
Kathy says she feels sorry for Eric, but she can understand why she left.
Rachel says she can't believe she stuck with him so long. Kathy asks Rachel
if they can have a nite out. Rachel declines (looks sheepish - says she has
too much homework or something). Kathy hints to Rachel that she might ring
Jez... hinting that Rach might want to try herself if she fancies her
chances! Later, she secretly asks Betty to babysit and tells her that she is
going out on a date.... and Betty must not tell anyone.
AIRPORT
Eric catches up with Dee and pleads with her to stay. She says goodbye and
he breaks down...
CAIRNS
Seth takes Emma home, and she is reconciled with Becky.
WOOLPACK
Will accuses Marlon of helping drive Dee out of Emmerdale. Marlon doesn't
cover his pleasure too well! He sugests Will get on his computer and get
himself a mail-order bride... Will attacks him and the fight is broken up
by thingy (rugby player whose name I can't remember). Turner follows as Will
is thrown out of the pub. Pollard drives up. It's a face-off between Will
and Pollard, but only one of them is in a car... Pollard speeds up for a
hit-and-run but applies the brakes as Terry dives out to save Will.
Eric: "I shouldn't have stopped, I shouldn't have stopped! You snivelling
spoiled little brat. You've had everything on a plate but you had to take
away the only good thing in my life!"
Will: "She never loved you, she was a prisoner here and now she's escaped!"
Eric walks away, a broken man, fighting back the tears in front of the
others outside the Woolpack...
END
Phew!
