Well, I wouldn't say no to her if I found her with a backpack on, you're
quite right there... But her musical taste is somewhat dubious, wouldn't
you say? Not exactly Christophe Gluck's Orfeo ed Euridice.

A toothsome morsel!
Did you see her On the Buses in hot pants tending to the canteen
vending machine?

<g> I'm not familiar with Gluck but I may YouTube him - Luan is
performing an improved version of the Los Bravos SMASH Black is Black
which REnzo might claim as Northern Soul!

Luan played barmaid Lorna Shawcross, Billy Walker's girlfriend in the

Singing barmen: Jack Duckworth, Fred Elliott, Ciaran McCarthy, Sean Tully.

Many professional actors can also sing and dance - it's all part of drama
school training. Of course not all sing equally well, e.g. Hilda Ogden.

I wouldn't be surprised. In the 1960s she was a singer and trombone player
in sleazy nightclubs around Manchester.

He made several records in his day.

From that font of all knowledge, Wikipeadia: -

In 1968, Tarmey gave up his job in the building industry to work as a
night-club singer and entertainer. In order to supplement his income, he
took on work as an extra on shows such as Coronation Street, amongst others.
Despite suffering a serious heart attack in 1976, he was eventually offered
the role of Jack Duckworth, a character who would go on to become an
institution in British soap operas. By 2009 he will have starred in
Coronation Street for 30 years and despite previous reports he is expected
to continue in the role.[1] He underwent bypass surgery in 1986, and had a
pacemaker fitted after suffering a second heart attack in 2002, which was
used as a story line in Coronation Street to explain his absence. He is an
accomplished singer who has released several albums. He and his wife Alma
presently live in Ashton under Lyne, Lancashire.

Well, Bill Tarmey did sing for money. He was a nightclub crooner in his
younger days. Mel Torme was his idol; that's why he changed his name
from Piddington to Tarmey.

I don't know if Anthony Cotton has sung professionally, but he did a
pretty good song and dance routine in the "Oliver" special a few years
ago, as did Bradley Walsh and others.

<g> Piddington is not a good name for a crooner - Matt Monro would
have struggled as Matt Piddington, IMHO!
