INTRODUCTION
Coronation Street is a UK based soap opera centred around the imaginary
town of Weatherfield, Manchester. It was first shown at 7:00pm on 9
December 1960 and is the longest running TV show in the UK. It has
recently celebrated 35 years as the top soap with an average of 20 million
viewers per episode. It is filmed at Granada Studios, Manchester, and
there is shortly to be a new outdoor set added. Episode 4000 was shown on
Monday 15 April 1996
WHERE AND WHEN CAN I WATCH THE SHOW?
In The UK
The programme is broadcast on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday at
19:30-20:00hrs.
The repeats are screened on a Monday (Friday episode), Tuesday (Sunday
episode), Wednesday (Monday episode), and Thursday (Wednesday episode) at:
Anglia: 12:55-13:25
Border: repeat Wednesday 14:20; Omnibus edition Sunday (W & F episodes),
times may vary, but usually 17:30
Carlton: None
Central: None
Channel 3 North-east: 13:55 - 14:25
Granada: repeat Wednesday 14:20; Omnibus edition Sunday (W & F episodes),
times may vary, but usually 17:30
Grampian: 12:55-13:25
HTV: 13:25 - 13:55
Meridian : 12:55 - 13:25
STV: 01:30 - 02:00
UTV (Ulster TV): 12:55-13:25
Westcountry: 12:55-13:25
Yorkshire: 13:55-14:25

Every day Mon-Fri 08:00 repeated 12:00, 18:00 and 21:00
Omnibus edition 19:00-22:00 Saturday
In Ireland
Coronation Street is shown on Irish Television at exactly the same time as
on ITV, ie Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday at 19:30 on Network Two.
No repeats.
However Ireland can pick up UTV (Ulster TV) and watch the repeats the
following Wednesday, Friday, Monday and Tuesday at 12:55-13:25.
In Canada
CS is carried on CBC Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesday from 3pm -3:30pm. The
omnibus is on Sunday morning at either 9:00-10:30 or 9:30 - 11:00am This
seems to be the general rule for the whole of Canada, except Nova Scotia
Prince Edward Island, and New Brunswick where CS
now airs Monday through till Thursday at 1pm, and all four episodes are
repeated on Sunday 9-11 am.
CS is approx. 6 weeks behind in Canada.
In New Zealand
TV ONE:
19:35-20:35 Monday
19:30-20:05 Tuesday
19:35-20:05 Saturday
CS is approx. 3 months behind in New Zealand.
