JohnnyD's niece from New Jersey was Pam. I think she came to Yuckdale
after Marcy was gone. I just remember that Pam was involved with Beau and
was friendly with Nella.

WOW!! This really brings back some memories. I vaguely recall both of these
story lines.
I don't remember how Marcy Thompson was introduced, but she was involved with
Kirk McColl and Frannie and some other guy, Jay (tough guy who Frannie ended
up with) while they were all in high school. Didn't Marcy leave the show when
she married some rich ambassador/prince???? Can someone fill me in on the
details around these storylines?? I think it's been a good ten years since
these days.
As for the Pam/Beau story, my recollection is that Beau was portrayed as some
stalker type, but was really covering up for his psycho-sister... Didn't Beau
play guitar and sing at the cellar?? Ended up leaving to pursue a singing
career and that's about when Pam left???? Who else was Pam involved with????
Bad memories want to know....
: Is Marcie Thompson the nursing student Marcie that was played by Marisa
: kat
Yes Kathy, you're absolutely right - the actress that played Marcy
Thompson was Marisa Tomei. You mentioned she played a nursing student
but that still wasn't enough information to turn on a light that's been
out for so long. Please..... more help. Thanks

Marcy Thompson Cushing was played by Marisa Tomei from 1983 until 1985.
She had runaway from her trampy mother Peggy and lived with the McColl
family in Oakdale. She was a good friend of Kirk McColl, Jay Connors,
and Frannie Hughes and had crushes on both of the boys. After
finishing high school, she studied drama at Oakdale University and
worked as an employee at Fashions, Limited. She had such low self
esteem until her dreams of a Cinderella romance came true. She met
and fell in love with Ellen's step-grandson, Lord Stewart Markham
Cushing. After a Scottish style wedding, she and Stewart moved to England and
now live there with their son, David.
Marcy was never a nursing student. Maybe you are thinking of Meg
Snyder Landry or her friend Nella Franklin. Hal Munson's niece,
Tess Shelby also had a storyline that was very similar to Marcy.

Well, I'm afraid I don't have enough memory power to turn on any lights
about this subject. In fact, the more I think about it, I think Marcie
may have been before Pam's (JohnnyD's neice, as others have pointed out)
time. Someone metioned that Marcie was friends with Frannie, but all I
can remember is that she hung out at the hospital. She could have been a
candy striper instead of a nursing student.
I do remember the Pam and Beau storyline, and I think Pam was friends
with Meg. So the more I think about it, maybe Marcie was before the Pam
storyline. Boy, is my memory bad! Hopefully someone can remember more.
Sorry, I'm of no help. I'm even confusing myself.

I remember she actually accused Dr. Bob of making sexual advances toward her
and John Dixon was, of course, eager to believe the worst about him. I
remember she also asked BaBa to give her etiquette lessons or some such.
Frannie suggested BaBa because she said that her sister was the classiest
woman she knew. (HA!)
Speaking of Frannie and Jay their relationship was sort of like Mike and
Roseanna's. He was a poor working class slob and she was the rich bitch. And
get this...they met when he was working at the garage where she got her car
fixed! Deja vu!! (How and why do I remember this stuff?)
Michelle M.
Not exactly. In 1984, Bob was reported to the hospital administration
questioning his inappropriate behavior with a patient. This matter
was handled internally with Chief of Staff Dixon being involved.
Eventually, Marcy admitted that she was lying, (I think to Lisa)
Sexual harrassment laws had not passed yet. In 1991, Duncan was in much more
serious trouble because he was taken to civil court and sued for damages
because of Kira's false accusations of sexual harrassment.

Not exactly. Frannie was from an upper middle class family in
Oakdale and was still living with the Hughes family. Rosanna has
runaway from the extremely wealthy Cabot family of the upper class
Gross Point section of Detroit. Both Mike and Jay attracted their
girlfriends away from other successful, Oakdale-connected boyfriends,
Evan and Kirk McColl. In the case of Kirk and Jay , they ironically
turned out to not only be best friends but half-brothers. Evan and
Mike seem to have no connection and absolutely hate each other.
So the Duncan and Kira story was just a rehash of the Bob
and Marci story?

No, but I have now! Dr. Bob makes sexual advances toward John Dixon!

I'll agree with both of those and add that it gives you the chance to
vent your emotions in a fairly harmless manner. No one cares when you cry in
your living room with a character or when you shout obscenities at others.
Well, actually when my husband is home he looks at me oddly when I say
things at the screen like "Die, Bitch". But still it is fairly harmless!

One of my pet theories is that people watch soap operas to feel superior.
Who wouldn't feel superior to most of the air-heads on soaps? (I include
myself in this, btw.) This little bit of psycho babble is brought to you for
free! What do ya'll think? :)

Which was a rehash of the Bob-and-the-Homicidal-Babysitter story from
about 6 or 7 years ago. I don't remember the character's name (Marsha or
Leslie both keep ringing a bell with me, though). The actress was a
wide-eyed blonde with a sad face; a few years before, she had a role on GL
as Hillary's friend who committed suicide.
She came to work for the Hughes as Chris' babysitter and became
indispensable, with Kim constantly gushing about how they couldn't get
along without her (otherwise, Kim would have had to actually hold, feed or
play with her own baby). The babysitter soon developed a Marcy-like thing
for Bob (similar to the Dawn-like thing for Tom). The biggest difference
was that she was a documented mental case and acted out her obsession
by trying to attack Bob with a knife in the Hughes' living room. Her
brother was Beau, the folk-singing dud (my opinion) who became the
boyfriend of John Dixon's niece, Pam.
Anyone remember this character's name or the name of the actress who
played her? She was quite good, as I remember, but they shipped her off
to a mental hospital after the knife attack and no one has mentioned her
since. Maybe it's time for her to be released and join Janice in
tormenting Kim?

Absolutely, this insane former babysitter of Christopher Hughes and
sister of Beau Farrel whose fatal attraction to Bob ended in her
institutionalization was none other than Laura Simmons!
That's right. John's niece was named Pamela, and she was a blonde.
She was played by Robin Morse, daughter of actor Robert Morse.
