Well, I finally got around to opening my package of Susan Lucci's Hair
Care products. I figured this was a good time, since I am in my fifth
month of pregnancy and my hair has been looking a little lack-luster.
The package (suitable for gift giving) contained the entire collection:
* Balancing Scalp Elixir - a "scalp restorative" for a healthy scalp.
* Deep Conditioning Treatment - a "rescue treatment" for hair.
* Purifying Shampoo - a "mild shampoo which won't strip away nutrients."
* Moisture Infusion Rinse - a "conditioning against drying effects"
* Radiance - "improves hair texture, creating luster, shine, & highlights."
* Polution Sheild Hairspray - a "hold with impeccable control"
The cost of the collection is $35.92 (plus $5.22 postage) and can be
ordered from QVC at 1-800-848-1055. Without postage, that's only $5.99 a
product.
You get the five products no matter what type of hair you have -- oily,
dry, color-treated, permed, etc. There is a brochure that describes the
"proper" regiment for each category of hair. Lucci claimed on the QVC
television show that the products work well for ethnic hair, too. Since my
hair is Dry, I followed the instructions and used the Purifying Shampoo for
each shampoo and alternated the Moisture Infusion Rinse with the Deep
Conditioning Treatment. I used the Radiance and Polution Sheild Hairspray
daily.
After two weeks, my hair felt pretty good. It doesn't take much shampoo
to get a good lather, (or much treatment to get a conditioning), so the
products seem to last a long time. The Radiance *did* add shine to my hair.
I like that product a lot. The hair spray seems to be an extra-hold
spray, so it held up well. The only negative was the scalp elixir, which
made my head feel greasy - I stopped using it right away.
The products boast a "unique blending of floral extracts, botanical oils,
and herbal tinctures..." You would think the products would have a strong
aroma, but I found them to have a very pleasant and light scent.
Susan Lucci created the products with her hair stylist, Fernando Romero.
(Fernando owns a styling salon on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills).
I found the products to be just as good (the Radiance is GREAT) as the
Paul Mitchell and Redken products I normally use. So, if you usually
buy products in the salon, you will probably like these.
Here is the final rating:
* Balancing Scalp Elixir: D+
* Deep Conditioning Treatment: A
* Purifying Shampoo: A
* Moisture Infusion Rinse: A-
* Radiance: A+
* Polution Sheild Hairspray: B+
Overall, I was pleasantly surprised at how much I liked the products. (But
I still don't look like Susan Lucci... :) )
