DOOL: Melissa Reeves Quit/Fired

The official Soap Opera Update release on Compuserve says that her last
airdate is December 18. Rumors abound about her abrupt exit. One rumor
(and I freely admit that these are just rumors so take them with a grain
of salt) is that Melissa was resistant to a Jack and Jennifer reunion and
made it a point of confrontation with the powers that be. Days with its
notorious stance that all stories are "actor proof" called her bluff.
Another rumor (seemingly aided by Melissa's own press release) is that the
Peter and Jennifer's lustful antics on screen weren't just *for* the
screen that there was more going on between Melissa and Jason. Missy's
husband supposedly found out about it and gave her the ultimatum Jason and
DOOL OR himself and Emily. (Again this is all rumor and not substantiated
fact. Do *not* believe I'm saying this is absolutely true. Rumors do not
always prove true.) What *is* true however, is that she is ***gone***!

DAYS and Melissa Reeves have announced that the actress has decided to
leave the show at this time. "It is with deep regret that I have chosen to
leave my role as Jennifer for personal reasons," the actress said in a
statement. "I want to thank all of the fans and I ask them to understand
my need to be with my family right now. We are all healthy but there are
times when families need to be together, and I am at a point in my life
where I need to spend more time with my husband, Scott, and my daughter,
Emily." Reeves, who is married to Y&R's Scott Reeves (Ryan) has a last
airdate of Dec. 18 and DAYS will temporarily recast the role beginning
Dec. 19.
"Melissa has informed the show that she is having immediate personal
problems and needs some time to correct the situation," Executive Producer
Ken Corday said in a statement. A source close to the actress says it's
doubtful the actress will ever reprise her role.

it was a steady job.

changing so much lately. I'm still hoping for a Jack and Jen reunion,
but these damn writers seem to keep all the best couple apart. It's one
thing to have quandries, but they drag these plots on for years. I
think that Reeves may have been having an affair with jason brooks.
There seemed to be more love scenes then neccessary. love seens are
different with Bo and Hope, because there is admitted sexual tension
between them in real life. But, anyways, I'm upset with reeves for
saying she wants to be another alice horton and than decide to leave.
Besides, if it's true that her husband is giving her an ultimatum, she
can tell him to take a hike.

First, I really don't buy the affair, just doesn't seem like something
that Melissa and Jason would do. If, and I mean IF, it were true, then
Scott would be within his rights to do such a thing, and I would back him
on that. He would be trying to save his marriage, and I would say that
he was working at it. Someone mentioned on some board that he was
leaving Y&R too. I don't read their stuff, any truth to this?? Could it
be that these two just need to spend more time together, that the perfect
jobs are taking too much time away from them. Maybe it's all about
having another baby. Just because a couple is having some problems,
doesn't mean someone is messing around. I just hope they can work out
what ever it is. They are too good together, they just need some time, so
hope they can have some.

morning that Melissa Reeves is taking a personal leave of absence for a
undetermined length of time. While she is gone, someone else will do
the part of Jennifer. Linda seemed quite sure that Missy will be
returning to the show.

husband giving her an ultimatimum. You don't know what these people are
going through, there are a lot of reasons that she might leave. Without
any real ideas, it's unfair to put your own judgments on people you only
know as "soap characters". For all anyone knows she's leaving because
her character is getting stale. I mean, how many more times can she get
stuck in a cave? Good enough reason to leave there!

Melissa Reeves and Jason Brooks were there, along with about 10 other
stars of DOOL. The DOOL team played against a team of local celebrities.
We had the opportunity to meet all of them and chat with them. All of the
stars were cutting up with each other on the field and in the dugout for
about 3 hours. They all seemed to be having a great time, but I have to
honestly say that I did not notice Melissa and Jason flirting with each
other or paying each other any more attention than anyone else.
Jason Brooks and Ivan G'Vera were probably the most friendly of all.
Bryan Dattilo (Lucas) was, believe it or not, probably the most athletic.
He could really slam that ball. And, I have to say that Missy Reeves and
Eileen Davidson (Kristen) both looked great in their little Size 1 (I'm
guessing) cut-off jeans. Disgusting, huh!
Anyway, back to the subject, I really hope that the rumors about Melissa
are not true. I would like to see her work her problems out and get back
to the show.
