Ahh... the first "little" Paul... didn't he have an affair with a very
young Margo, ex-Mistress of his Dad, who lived in a house Stenback Sr.
had bought her? Or was it just an unrequited crush? There was
something that my feeble mind remembers.
I know he was involved with Emily Stewart when I first started
watching the show. I didn't know about Margo.
Margo was never involved with Paul, not was she the object of any
crush of his. It was Emily. The other poster is confused by the change
in Emily's hair color and the resemblance of the actresses that played
Em and Margo back then.
First of all, Kavovit played the first and only teenage Paul.
"Little" Paul was first played by Danny Pinaturo, then a couple of
other children, before the role was aged slightly and cast with
Kavovit in 1986, who played Paul until age 18 or so. Ten years later,
the was recast with the first adult Paul, John Howard.
When AK took over the role in 1986, Margo was already married to Tom
and WAY past her affair with James (that affair took place in 1980),
so there's no way she was the one living in any house James owned. She
was too busy trying to send him to jail.
What Koko is thinking about is the first and second Emilys, played by
Colleen McDermott (1986-1987) and Melanie Smith (1987-1990). This
young Emily (17 when McDermott played the role) was involved with
James and stayed at a cabin with him and Paul at one time, but I don't
think James ever bought her a house. That's the Emily that Paul had a
crush on, and who he lost his virginity to. Both McDermott and Smith
had dark hair and Smith and Hillary Bailey Smith (who was playing
Margo at that time) had a similar haircut.
Paul was 16 and Emily was 18 when they became involved.

I remember that James bought Margo a house and I think they are still using
the same dining room table now. It appeared to be dark pine and round and
years ago sat in a bay window area.
I know that Margo was living in a house on the Stenbeck estate and
that John lived there with her for a while, but that's the way it's
always described in anything online, "living there". I could only find
one reference to him having *bought* her the cottage. Could be, it's
just weird that she would accept such a gift when she'd have to
explain that to Lyla. Maybe she didn't care what Lyla would think of
her having an affair back then? It's a little before my time (I was in
high school in 1980), but I remember James trying to keep Margo
secret, so buying her a house seems odd, since she'd have to explain
how she could afford even a cottage as a student nurse.
Anyway that was back in 1980, so I think the other poster is smooshing
together the memory of James and Margo's affair and Paul and Emily's
affair. What she was describing, young Paul having an affair with or a
crush on Margo, just didn't happen. It was Emily.
KC
I don't think Paul ever had a crush on Margo but he for sure cared about
Emily and was very protective of her. Margo's house has changed so much
anyway it is hardly recognizable, but I do think that table is the same. I
wish Katie would decide her house has too many memories and she would move
back to her cottage. I bet pieces of it are laying around somewhere and I
would like to see it again. I seem to pay more attention to rooms than
actors or story. I also remember dog's names better than their owner's.
LOL!!! I cannot get over the things you and KC can remember about this
show! It astounds me! :)

I remember when she and Tom moved into the house they have now, when
it was the mainfloor set with the stairs that went up to the bedrooms
and had that little cutout overlook and the huge stone fireplace.
Loved it! The current set was the family room that was often referred
to in those days and I like that the family talked about "going
upstairs", which we longtimers know is the main floor and the bedrooms
above.

Loved the cottage. Loved Katie's green sofa, because we had one just
like it in cream, a hand-me-down from the DH's beloved aunt (lost in
our housefire a few years ago). Yeah, I'm sentimental about that
couch. They could have Katie move to a new place that uses parts of
other sets, though I love the current set (other than the sculpture
behind the front door that, for a long time, looked like the
blueprints or something in those white paper tubes architects use!).
The set I loved the most, though, was the place on Lucinda's property
where Gwen and Will (later Luke and Noah) lived. The headboard used to
be Tom and Margo's, only it was painted white, Shabby Chic-style, in
those days. The windows that used to be part of Lucinda's poolhouse
are now used at Lily's. The front door of Lily's old set (the formal
entry and living room, appears to have been redone a bit and is
Katie's front door. Of course, the kitchen set for Oakdale Live used
to be Kim and Bob's kitchen.

I refer to all of our neighbors that way. "The house behind Bogart's,"
or "the red house where Pedro lives," or "Veronica, you know,
Winston's mom." I can tell you the names of the dogs my coworkers
have, but I sometimes can't recall how many kids they have, let alone
their names. Once, a coworker brought her baby in and everyone went
crazy for...him, no her, no him (see?), but later that day, someone's
puppy came careening through and I was all over that action.

To be upfront, I do look some stuff up, but mostly it's to make sure
I've got the details correct. I don't want to post something that's
misleading if my memory is mixed up. But, I do remember more than is
probably healthy! To quote Monk, "It's a blessing. And a curse." :-)
