Engen has probably been blacklisted for breaking his contract. Daytime
is most likely out for him. His only hope now would be to break into
primetime somehow but, because the studios that own the soaps also own a
lot of the primetime production houses, he might have to go overseas to
find work. The studios hate contract breakers. It's okay for them to
break a contract (they even put it right into the contract which is how
they were able to replace William Russ as Tucker Mccall already) but for
the actor to break his end of it, unless the actor is a big, big name and
carries a lot of sway in the industry, a contract breaker is usually
toast.

This nu Adam still turns my stomach.
I like him alot, and he is rumored to have stood up to Braeden.
Why would Michael Muhney have had to stand up to Braeden?
=========
I don't like him at all, and there is nothing they can do now to redeem him
unless he dies saving Faith or something like that, and even then it would
be...good riddance. I hate what they did to the character. It made no sense
then, and it makes none now.
Cheri
I meant I liked the actor, not necessarily the character, which they
have destroyed.
Because Braeden wouldn't look him in the eyes while doing their
dialogue, thus upstaging MM.
=============
Braeden spends a lot of time not looking people in the eye, effectively
ignoring them by reading a paper etc., while they're talking before he
says..."Now get out!"
Cheri

I liked CE in the part better, but I don't mind this actor now.

That's been Braeden's characterization of Victor Newman for years and
years. Why should he change it to suit some arrogant newbie upstart?
Yeah, Braeden has his arrogance down pat!
He built that part from the hole in his ass up.

Why NOT? Just because he's a "newbie upstart" doesn't mean he can't
have an opinion or that he's arrogant. He was probably RIGHT! If true,
kudos to MM for speaking his mind. Just because someone has done
something a certain way for years doesn't mean there's no other
effective way to do it.

Y'know, I hate to hear this, as Engen is a very, very talented guy and
I was a huge fan of the actor, even when the wrecking crew (known as
the "writers") was destroying the character of Adam that he had so
beautifully fleshed out. He really did a terrific job of nuancing a
complicated character - jealous, insecure, prideful, yearning for
acceptance...what a pity.

I'm glad I could cause such hysterics. Yeah.

It's part of his charm, ;-)
Or lack thereof.
Maybe MM should worry about getting his own part down pat rather than
try to change the way Braeden's portrayal of a character that has won
him numerous awards over a period of decades. I stand 100% by my
original statement.
This is your original statement: "That's been Braeden's

Do you mean you weren't being sarcastic? I thought you were just
*dripping* in sarcasm sauce.
Now I'm going to DVR the show again. If there is animosity between
the actors and animosity is called for between Adam and Victor, there
should be good drama to watch. Unlike watching CLB's puppy dog eyes
for GR...ugh. Michael and Kevin are brother's for crissakes! Show
the love for your wife Lauren, Michael.
Because he's become an arrogant old fart? ;-)
>He built that part from the hole in his ass up.\
RH, RH, RH...I am at a loss for words.

I don't like what TPTB have done with the character, but I don't think
MM has anything to "worry about" re getting his part down. I thought
CE was terrific in the part, but I also think MM is doing a fine job.
As for Braeden, when was the last time Braeden won a major award? He
won a Daytime Emmy in 1998 for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama
Series -- that was 11 years ago. He also won a People's Choice Award
for Favorite Male Performer in **1992** and I think a couple of Soap
Opera Digest Awards in the 70s and 80s. It's always better to win
those awards than not, but even people in the biz don't necessarily
all take them THAT seriously. That said, Bergman was nominated over a
dozen times (once while on AMC) and won in 1991, 1992 and 2002.
I stand 100% by my statement, too. When someone has an arrogant, no-
room-for-improvement attitude and no one dares to express an opinion
or make a request/suggestion, IMO, it's time for them to hang it up.
No reason why anyone should have to walk on eggshells, long as they
are respectful.

Wow. That's really saying something.

Which was the award he "thank(ed) God for Eric Braeden" for?
It was at the Daytime Emmys, 2005 maybe. He was doing the presentation
for Bill Bell's Lifetime Achievement award and when he meant to say
something like "Thank God for Bill Bell," his own name came up on the
TelePrompTer to signal probably his introduction of the next award or
something and he said his own name. I know I could easily do that.
I'll be typing a post and listening to the TV and I'll type something
I just heard. He seemed mortified when it happened.

That makes sense. I could see how that could happen. FWIW, I would not have
known Bill Bell if I was sitting next to him, but I would sure know EB. :-)

Very clever reply.
