Maybe the Yankees inspired them.

Maybe they read ratsc.

Y&R has been consistently and classically good this week. The focus
is back where it belongs, Relationships, proper history and we hear
serious conversations, background music, and even see good hair to
admire on Friday US, in particular on Ashley.

There are even some surprises.

No cringing, RH. I am not going to unwrap them.

I wish I could agree.

Everytime Cane and Lily are on my screen, I become virulently ill.

At least Neil didn't jump over her bed to attack and blame Cane for wearing
her out with all that sex, that's something new. ;-)

Damn Yankees meant no Y&R on my DVR today. Luckily for them, I caught
it on soapnet.

Yes, when these things happen, all the online venues (there are 6
streaming sites for Y&R, all legal) are great too.

But what's even more annoying is getting trapped in some damn parade
(did I mention I hate parades?) when you're just trying to get across
the street and having to walk a thousand blocks in the wrong shoes
just to get to your destination . . . and on top of that, finding out
that said inconvenient parade is for the sport you hate . . . and for
the team that you would be least likely to support if you didn't hate
the sport . . . and when you finally get home finding out that your
show has been preempted for something as trivial as footage of the
same damn parade celebrating the same damn sport and the same damn
team. But at least it's over for now. Okay, I'm done whining.

It finally ended! The Yankees won. It was played into November. November
and baseball just don't make sense to me. Like Mr. Wilson mowing the
yard the other day. November and baseball and mowing yards doesn't make
sense to me. This is a first for me.

Dave - not into baseball since the Blue Jays won back to back world series

I don't like parades either, and I especially don't like "inconvenient
parades." I used to love baseball, still like it somewhat, but I hated all
the changes they made within the leagues, and players hardly ever stay with
the same teams anymore with the free agent, and it just goes on and on and
on. Ridiculous really.

I haven't really been into baseball anymore here since the Blue Jays
*became* part of the American League truth be told. :-)

1978 as I recall. Toronto's big run lasted from 1985 to 1993 (back to back
series titles the last 2 seasons). However, since then they have been a non
force with a concrete white elephant called the Skydome. To be honest, I
really couldn't care less if the Blue Jays folded like the Expos. Baseball
is much more of an American sport than it is Canadian (kinda like hockey is
more Canadian than American).

Actually...I think it was 1977 when we entered MLB. I remember going to
games back then as a child (though they were boring as hell).

I don't know the exact date but it was in the 70's I believe. I understand
that it's all about money, more playoff games etc., but I don't think a lot
of the changes were for the best, including the DH. What a crock to me. :-)

It wasn't a parade, but the G20 summit that was held here in Pgh. a
month ago or so was a total PITA. I think Chicago is lucky they didn't
get to host the Olympics.

Yeah..we won the World Series (back to back) in '92 and '93. We had a damn
good team back then (Joe Carter, Robbie Alimar, Paul Molitar, etc). Some
folks thought there was a conspiracy for the World Series not be allowed to
come north of the border to Canada ('cuz afterall, baseball was an American
sport) but we managed to win in all for a couple of glorious years in a row.
I remember going downtown with some buddies to party in the streets both
times we won the series....it was compete and utter pandemonium (and very
dangerous)....never seeing anything like it before or since.

Since then though...we've sucked ass. The Blue Jays could fold for all I
care. Some with our Raptors in basketball. The only sport that matters
here is hockey (for better or for worse).

Speaking of Glee....I caught the last half hour of it the other night for
the very first time. It's kinda like modern-day Grease for TV (they even
did a Grease song at one point). It's a very corny show....but for some
reason I found myself quite interested in it. Loved the groundskeeper dude
watering the grass while air-guitarring to Journey (hehe). I won't watch it
every week (I don't watch much TV other than Y&R and Lost)....but I'll
likely rent season 1 when it comes out on DVD next year.

So the DH rule wasn't always in effect?? I've never believed in it (I
prefer the National League rule that pitchers must go to bat). Subbing
players intermittently throughout the game is bullshit.

Nah, it started somewhere in the early 70's with the AL. I never believed in
it either. It took away a lot of the nail biting strategy for me.

I'm officially retracting my rant from the other day. It turns out
that I was not stuck in a parade; I was in the middle of a protest
rally! See excerpt below from Bob Herbert's column in the NY Times:

"Last Friday, a huge crowd of fans marched in a ticker-tape parade in
downtown Manhattan to celebrate the Yankees’ World Series
championship. More than once, as the fans passed through the financial
district, the crowd erupted in rhythmic, echoing chants of “Wall
Street sucks! Wall Street sucks!”
