I just caught the last few minutes of Y&R today. Is Mrs. Chancellor going
to commit suicide by jumping off that bridge? What did Jill do to drive her
to this extreme?

Thanks!

Friday Katherine almost took a drink of alcohol.....she threw the glass
across theroom breaking a mirror. She did not drink--but was so
close.....apparently, she is considering ending it all.

Is this supposed to be when the teenaged runaway appears on the scene? Will
she save Katherine from jumping and then move in with Katherine and Jill?

She seems more like the overdose type to me. Snuggled in her
bed, that she shared with Dear Phillip. In the home she shared with
Dear Phillip. (And wouldn't that just freak Jill out? To find Katherine
dead in bed in her new house?!! Kay could come back as a ghost and
wander the halls haunting Jill)

Maybe she could fake her death and "haunt" Jill til she moves out?!!!

Wouldn't that be hilarious!?

No, Clarence the angel will save her. What exactly will he show her about
her life as if she'd never lived? Hmmm.

That's the Suzanne Lynch story exactly! Suzanne took over Katherine's
estate, she thought Katherine was killed in a fire. Instead, Mrs. Chancellor
"haunted" the house doing things like turning the record player on and
placing dozens of tarantulas on Suzanne. Eventually Katherine drove Suzanne
crazy and she was carried off to a mental hospital.

Debbie asked:
>Who is Suzanne Lynch?

Suzanne Lynch was Mrs. Chancellor's paid companion (after Jill). She lived
with Katherine at her estate. Katherine was quite feeble at the time and
Suzanne used this to her advantage to manipulate Katherine. Although she was
involved with Katherine's husband: Derek Thurston, Suzanne was really after
Katherine's money and she devised a plot to destroy Katherine.

Over a period of time, Suzanne convinced Katherine that she was the only
person who cared about Katherine and the only person Katherine should trust.
Katherine had already been through her divorce from Phillip (stolen by Jill)
and her divorce from Derek (also stolen by Jill), not to mention her
alcoholism and confinement to a wheelchair so that she was quite vulnerable
to Suzanne.

Suzanne obtained some sort of mystery drug that she added to Mrs.
Chancellor's food and drink. This gave Katherine hallucinations and great
anxiety. Then Suzanne would put a tarantula on Katherine. When Katherine
freaked out over the spider, Suzanne would say that there was nothing there
and Katherine was losing her mind. Eventually Suzanne convinced Katherine to
sign her estate over to her. Once this was complete, Suzanne had Katherine
carted away to a mental hospital.

While Suzanne lavished in the luxury of Katherine's estate, Katherine was
locked in this awful hospital. Katherine shared her room with another woman
who was really crazy and set the place on fire. Somehow they exchanged
identities and Katherine escaped during the fire but the other woman was
killed, so everyone thought Mrs. Chancellor was dead.

Katherine somehow found her way to Elizabeth Foster's house (Jill's Mother).
Mrs. Foster was Katherine's only true friend and couldn't believe it when
Katherine appeared at her door. Mrs. Foster reluctantly agreed to keep
Katherine's secret
that she was alive. Mrs. Chancellor's funeral then took place.

The funeral chapel was filled with flowers and everyone in Genoa City came
to shed a tear for Katherine. In the front row sat Suzanne pretending to be
the most distraught. Then Mrs. Chancellor entered and walked down the aisle
dressed in a beautiful black outfit with a veil covering her face. After
placing flowers on the casket, Katherine lifted her veil and turned to
Suzanne. When Suzanne saw Mrs. Chancellor she totally freaked out. It was
fabulous! Then it was revealed this was only a dream sequence. Katherine did
attend her funeral, but did so in disguise and did not cause a scene so
nobody noticed her.

To exact her revenge, Katherine snuck into the Chancellor estate and turned
the tables on Suzanne. Katherine rigged the stereo to start seemingly by
itself and did other things like that to spook Suzanne. Finally Katherine
used not one, but many tarantulas to drive Suzanne over the edge. Suzanne
herself was then carted away to a mental hospital and has never returned to
Genoa City.... yet.

Footnote: Jeanne Cooper appeared on a talk show (Merv Griffin I think)
during this time and brought a tarantula with her. She let the spider crawl
all over her and claimed that she had them as pets and loved them.

I really think this was one of the best storylines ever on the show. Back in
those days Y&R was only a half hour long so the show was more focused than
it is today. These scenes were truly suspenseful and had me screaming,
crying and laughing.

show on the edge of my chair the way the above story did...
BTW I am new to this newsgroup and am happy to find a place that actually talks
about Y&R ( don't ask lol). I have been watching the show loyaly since Shela
was after Dr. Granger(?). the show was great then. Nothing like the, um, stuff
that is being put on our tvs right now. But I love the show!

You might be able to answer something I've been wondering about. I
remember at one time Jill was adding vodka to this big jug of health
drink Katherine was taking so she would start drinking again. Was
that before Philip (senior) died? It seems like Jill was living in
the house. Do you remember any of this?

TIA

If Kay were to fake her death, or commit suicide, wouldn't Esther
inherit? Surely she would NOT leave her half of the estate to Jill. I
remember a storyline where she told Esther that if she stayed working for
her, she would be provided for in her will, not sure how much that
covered. Ascentia

Then it seems perfectly natural to recycle it again!

Oh yes, I remember when Jill did that. It was long after Philip died. I
think at that time Jill was trying to destroy Katherine so she could steal
Katherine's then husband, Derek Thurston. After Katherine drank the "spiked"
tonic she thought she was losing her mind. I think Katherine was saved by
Jill's mother Elizabeth Foster who discovered the alcohol in Katherine's
medicine.

Thank you! All I can remember is Jill and Katherine both looking in a
mirror and Katherine drinking some health drink and knowing it was
spiked by Jill.

Hi Kimberly. I know what you mean. I've been here a couple months. It's
great. It's nice to see a familiar person here. :)

Thank you so much for posting this, I wasn't a viewer at the time.

This would be a great story to re-write!
