Question about Kevin's status....

Due to my frequent use of the FF button, I have missed the explanation
for what is going on with Kevin.

I don't understand... Kevin steals jewels, right? Kevin confesses,
right? Yet somehow there is no trial/conviction/ jail term for said
crime? He gets to play "office" with the cops as punishment for said
crime? What a justice system!!! ;) What have I gotten wrong?

Someone help me out, please. :)

Mikey had The Bug cut him a deal to do community service
for a guilty plea and giving back the stolen items.

Considering Kevin's felony record, I'm wondering how even
the wonderful, perfect Bug could get away with a deal like
that with the public. I guess she doesn't have to worry about
re-election since she was appointed for being so perfect. :P~~~

WOW!!! How absurd is that? For the very reason you mentioned, Kevin's
past... not to mention all of the other recent unsolved burglaries.

I don't know where I was when Bug saved the day... but that really is
hard to swallow. What a lesson Kevin will learn from that! Everybody
better be more careful with their valuables when Kevin is around... he
may get another "itch" he can't handle. This is disgusting ... :(

To me, the only way to redeem a character is to have them own up, take their
punishment and move on. Kevin has never been accountable for burning Gina's
down after locking Colleen in the freezer. That was arson and attempted
murder. He is basically a sleaze IMO. I do like the character since he adds
a bit of darkness to the show, but I can't go along with the Saint Kevin
they try to throw in once in awhile.
