I used to watch Guiding Light a long time ago and just picked up on it
again recently. I don't understand the connection between
Bridgette-Peter-Vanesssa. Could someone please explain. THanks.

Bridget unexpectedly became pregnant with Peter
after sleeping with Hart Jessup just once to lure him
away from Julie Camilletti.

At the time, Nadine Cooper was married to Billy
Lewis and was jealous of the devotion Billy showed to
his and Vanessa's son Bill, because it seemed to bring
him closer to Vanessa.

Nadine decided that what she needed was a child with
Billy. She accidentally found out about Bridget's
pregnancy, which Bridget was trying to hide from
everyone, especially her Uncle Ed. Bridget agreed to
pretend to be on a college-related study trip to the
Appalachians while secretly living in Nadine and
Billy's attic. Nadine paid all of Bridget's expenses while
faking a pregnancy and, months later, presented
Bridget's baby to Billy as their own.

Billy found out and left Nadine. He adopted Peter,
married Vanessa, attempted to kill Roger Thorpe,
and was sent to jail leaving Vanessa as Peter's adoptive
parent. Meanwhile, Bridget decided she wanted the
baby back. During the resulting custody battle Bridget
and Vanessa decided to raise Peter together.
