I haven't watched long, but it seems that Alex and Alan have a true
love/hate relationship. Both emotions seem powerfully strong. Now that
Alex believes that Alan is dying, all the things she enjoyed about him is
surfacing. And yesterday, Alan almost seemed happy that he would be
spending Christmas with Alex.
Now: character I hate: I want that stupid Nick Spaulding to have a crane
crush him at a construction site. What a loser! Can't the guy ever
crack a smile? That is certainly a waste of a character.
Tell me about Holly. Is she good or is she bad? I'm trying to remember
if she was a conniver years ago (I watched it over 20 years ago, so this
is a big stretch). Seems to me she was married to Ed but attracted to
Roger, or something like that. Why is Holly trying to get Spaulding?
Does Guiding Light have any Gay characters? I think Matt should turn out
to be Gay. It would be perfect. He makes plans to meet Vanessa for a
romantic dinner but shows up saying "Vanessa, I have something to tell
you..." "We're through, I've got the hots for Josh." :)
Silly!
Anyway, the show seems to move fast. I'm glad that Ed knows he didn't
hit Dylan. His torment was so very painful to watch.

Opinions are mine, 'cept when they are not.
P.S. Hillary Edson (Eve) used to play Stacy Winthrop on Another World.
It is good to see her again. If you have time to squeeze in another
show, check out AW. You will be hooked major time, and quickly too.

Holly is basically good, though very above-it-all/isolated in some ways.
Maureen hated her because of her history with Ed. Alex and Jenna were'nt
to happy with her because of her hold on the Dodger. And, for a long
while, Blake and she had tension over Ross. She's also been portrayed
(well, it seems bad to me) as negotiating against her employees' union.
She can be histrionic, and has a tendency towards drinking and
depression/ even thoughts of suicide. After finding your daughter in bed
with the man you thought you were dating, maybe you would too. But
lately she's been very strong, especially in sparring with the Dodger and
defending herself from Alex's machinations. She's also forgiven Blake,
though maybe not Ross.
She's trying to get Spaulding cause Roger wants it. She doesn't really
care about it one way or the other.

The only soaps I've known of to do gay characters are AMC (remember
Brook and that lady Dr.?), which dropped it pretty quickly, and OLTL, with
it's
gay teen story that was very well-thought out and made national news. I
agree Matt's beauty certainly makes him a desirable candidate, but
wouldn't that be pretty upsetting for Contessa, especially after all
these months of evidence to the contrary?

ATWT had a gay character, Mark someone, who Iva (=ex-Nola, Lisa Brown)
fell in love with, and he had to tell her he he was gay and had a lover
dying of AIDS. It was quite well done.

Wasn't this Hank Elliot? I agree that the story was well done. They
should bring him back, along with Paul and RealEmily.

The ATWT character's name was Hank Elliott -- I really wish they would
bring him back for a while.

ATWT also had a gay character, Hank Elliott, who was a fashion
designer and friend of Barbara Ryan. (Barbara and Iva had crushes
on him for a while.) The character was allowed to develop, and
it was eventually revealed that he had an HIV + lover in NYC.
He's still mentioned as an "offscreen character" periodically
on the show.

They keep mentioning him on ATWT, and I'm wondering if that means he's
about to reappear?

Why should they bring Hank back? The only time they mention him is when the
annual Aids ball comes around. What storyline could they have? Another gay
lover dying of Aids? He just is not a viable character. No future. That
would be like bringing Dawn, who stayed with Tom and the kids back. She had
Aids, and a crush on Tom. Where could the writers go with that story line?
[unless of course, the technician that did her blood test after she was
raped made a mistake and she doesn't have aids].
I believe Dawn moved to another town with her son, and another love interest?

: Hank is a dress designer. They could easily give him a story line on
: ATWT. At least as much of a story as Olivia every gets. I really liked
: Hank when he was on before. He was a good friend to young Andy and Paul.

Thanks for the info Bonnie. You're right. It would be better to have Hank
designing cloths for Lucy than old Olivia -) Hank could help Andy; poor old
Paul, with a father like James and a mother like Barbara, there was no help
for him :-) Are the writers going to assume we have short memory, and bring
her back sans Aids? Or will they run a story line that the test results
were wrong? I know they will want to get some one for Tommy, becaust I think
that Margo and Hal are going to have another go at it :-) Take care.

: Way back when, in the late 70s, AMC had another gay character,
Wrong-oh (but you did clear up my earlier post. It WAS Devon and not
Brooke who was into that lady dr.)
But, the lady Dr. was played by the actress who starred in "Angie" the
sitcom with the "Airplane" films guy.
Oops, you're right after all: Angie/actress WAS a supporting character
(the girl Travolta dumps, I think) in Saturday Night Fever. But his real
co-star was (coincedentally) the woman who played the immortal "Tara" (of
Tara and Nick, a foil for Erica, I think) on AMC. No gay action with
her, however.

Was the actress Karen Gorney or Donna Peskow? Don't know about
the character on AMC, though - I'm just up on my SATURDAY NIGHT
FEVER gossip.
That's it! It was Donna Peskow! Thanks, Trish.

That's what my earlier incomprehensible message tried to clarify. Both
Karen Gorney and Donna Peskow were in Saturday Night Fever--Revolta dumps
Donna (actually, I think she just has a hopeless crush on him anyway) and
chooses Karen as his dancing partner (even thought she can't really dance).
