here's an excerpt from the page I found... the one about Susan "guest
starring" on ATWT, and it appears, doing no acting work after that...

SUSAN BATTEN
Founder and President, The Southern Food Company

Actress-turned-food entrepreneur, Susan Batten was born and raised in
the
small town of Clayton, North Carolina. Obsessed with Elvis Presley,
Lucille
Ball, and becoming a go-go dancer, she knew that she was going to
pursue life
in the performing arts, but wanted to take time to study science.
While
auditioning and landing lead roles with local theatre companies, she
enrolled
at Louisberg College (NC) as a chemistry major. She later transferred
to one of
the nations finest drama schools, The North Carolina Schools for the
Arts,
where she received her BA in drama, and was the sole recipient of the
coveted
Helen Hayes Scholarship Award.

After graduation, she moved to New York, and performed in many stage
productions including Come Blow Your Horn, Hamlet, The Cherry Orchard
and night, Mother. In 1993 she starred with Julie Harris in the
critically
acclaimed off-Broadway production of The Fiery Furnace.

In September, 1991, she made daytime television history by playing the
first
southern new-age goddess worshipper (who believed in horoscope, auras
and
crystals) In a role she co-created: Luna Moody Holden, on ABC
Televisions
One Life to Live. Viewers fell in love with Susans off-beat, loveable
Luna,
and she sky-rocketed to popularity. She received numerous industry
accolades for her work, including the 1992 MVP award from Soap Opera
Update.

In 1995, when Susan decided to leave Luna behind, she had a starring
role in
the television movie Hijacked: Flight 285, and many guest- starring
parts,
including on Lois & Clark: The New Adventures Of Superman, The
Client,
The Crew, and As The World Turns.

In 1996, Susan followed her heart (and stomach), which longed for
friends,
family, and cuisine of the south. She began to search the south for
foods and
recipes that would make her feel closer to home while living up North
and out
West. Out of that determination, The Southern Food Company was born.
She
gathered products which best represented home, and exclusively
prepared
the old fashion way : with love and care. She began to design her
company and the catalogue. The first mailing went out May 1, 1998,
and the
publishing and production branch of the company are growing.

Susan still goes back to Clayton for family visits, but with the
comfort of
southern foods, she can cope with the distance.

She also finds time to pursue her other interest, including cooking
southern
meals with her own family recipes; collecting and refinishing
antiques;
gardening; and just relaxing in her Connecticut farm house with her
large
orange cat, Peet, and her Husband, businessman and Kentucky-native
Truitt Bell.

My comments on 2 things: 1st, *go-go dancing*? Well, sure, I can just
picture her abysmal portrayal of Connor including this, it would have
been par for the course. (aiee....) 2nd, isn't the NC School of the
Arts a boarding *high school*? i know a few people who went there. I
never heard that it is a college too. Anyone?

What a vicious bitch you are, person who wrote the above screed. I hope someone
evaluates you with the same kindness and compassion you show Susan Batten. You
really are a scurrilous, vile, subpar lifeform, and you deserve nothing but the
worst life has to offer. May you find it in spades today and every day, for the
rest of your worthless life.

I got the following email this morning setting the record straight about
the school of the arts:

_____________________________________________________
Subject: ATWT: School of the Arts
Date: Tue, 09 Jun 1998 11:56:29 +0000
From: msmi...@med.unc.edu (Cathy Wells)
To: lac...@ioa.com

Laurel,

I can't post to the newsgroup very well, so will answer you privately
and you can post it if no one else does.

The North Carolina School of the Arts is both a high school and a
college. Both are on the same campus in Winston-Salem, NC.

They didn't really play Frankie as "southern," would you say? (In spite of her
being from Oklahoma or Arkansas.)

Isn't it great how those Susan Batten/Luna Moody fans are so full of New
Age values like peace, tolerance, acceptance and love?

Well, okay, I'll give you she wasn't southern. I do think the Frankie
character had the jump on the Luna character as far as New Age goes, however.
